Resuming outlander
For the first time in several years, I made some progress on Outlander. Marginally progress I guess; I spent more time refamiliarizing myself with the game and the Dink engine itself. Spending the last few years devoted to work, school, and music left me with little time for modding and as a result I'm quite rusty. I would like to compose a new sound track to Outlander. Mainly since it's the only aspect of d-modding I've improved on since I've set it aside. I have no idea what to do with the plot and I can't remember if I ever did.
The short term road block to Outlander right now is my obsession with playing Oblivion (should I have censored that word?) It'll burn out, though. Before working on Outlander, I played through FB3. I remembered it being a great d mod and an inspiration to the style so I used it to reacquaint myself.
Speaking of style, that's probably the most challenging part. Scripting is easy enough to remember. I can picture myself struggling with retaining and improving Outlander's style. It not only influences the aesthetic features, but also sets up the mood and plot. It's the entire feel. The feel of Outlander is meant to be grim, dadaist, and sentimental, in that order. There's trace amounts of each in the demo.
I digress. After playing FB3, I played through some of Outlander. I feel better about it now than I did when I first released the demo. And there are some pretty cool spells and items. Which will be difficult to follow now. The best thing to do I think, is to rummage through all my scripting and notes to see where I left off.
Anyway, that's how the developement is going. Thanks to everyone who's played the demo so far. In spite of these challenges, I really hope to finish it. And hopefully it doesn't suck.

Yay! BTW, have you heard of Exult? It allows you to play Ultima 7 without fussing over DosBox - Yay!
Cool, I always liked Outlander.
By the way, you should put this in previews instead of development.

Now there's a face we don't see often
Welcome back amoebalord!
Good to see you working on your Dmod again.

Ah, I felt as though I was more rambling about challenges in the developement of a dmod after a hiatus rather than previewing it
