It doesn't have to be a cow, maybe deer milk? Or even bonca milk, that could have some interesting effects! 
Talking of fruit juice reminds me of the fruit mixing in LoT, maybe you could fiddle around with that a bit.
I also like rajesh's earlier idea of food rotting, probably would happen by not picking it up and then coming back later. Going rotten in the inventory would be annoying and doesn't seem very practical.
