this is to start a conversation. let me start... who thinks we should have a dink chatroom at the dn?

I thought we already had one? Well we did at some point. It was a miserable failure for the most part.

There was no one there most of the time, but scheduled chats could hoard in a lot of people. I think it died out primarily because no one was looking after it anymore, not because of lack of interest on the community's part.

The chat page still exists. Sort of...

The java chatroom is broken, but the IRC channel is still up I think...

It was fairly strong back in the 2000-2003 era, I believe... but people just mostly lost interest.

I think a chat room would be nice, though I guess it can only work if people have agreed to come at a specific time, otherwise there might not be enough people to keep it interesting...
