I have a small little problem when playing Dink Smallwood and D-Mods. Whenever I enter a new tile it takes 3-5 seconds before moving to the next tile, it happens when a midi is attached to the tile.

Does anyone have solution?

Woof!
I have the same problem. Probably just a slow computor.

Try v1.08 Aural+, unless this has only started happening recently in which case it's probably some other bug...

It has been like this ever since I got Windows XP really. And I highly doubt that it's my computer specs, my machine should handle Dink I shall try DInk Aural+ and report back sir.

That explains it then - it's a problem in XP but not 98 or earlier

Windows has to load instruments from a sound bank file on the harddisk before being able to play a MIDI, this causes a few seconds of lag when a MIDI is supposed to be playing. Don't ask me why the lag's there, since the sound bank file itself is only 3.5 MB. Bad coding on MS's side maybe?

I doubt that it's something like that, there is prolly just something to config or something.

Daniel, there are clowns.
Is XP on a new computer or did you install XP onto your old computer? If it's a new computer, it probably has to do with the fact that all new soundcards no longer have hardware driven midi, it's all software emulated. That can cause delays when loading midis.

That's what I said, and it is the cause, not a configuration error or anything. Anyone using software emulated MIDI has this delay.

When I play a MIDI on Media Player there is no delay. Why it occurs in Dink then?

Mmh... Now that I remember, in other games that use MIDI there is a delay also.

Couple that with true colour slowness and playing dink suddenly became a world of pain, even with the good dmods. As sparrowhawk sugested, midilag can be fixed with aural+ though.

Dink Aural+ doesn't seem to exist anymore on Redman's site.

dang, that sucks. Aural+ is the next best thing since... uh... dinkedit and sprite replacer.

The guy with the cute D-Mod.
I've still got it, so if anyone wants it I'd be happy to give it to them.

I have another problem with Dink, it doesn't seem to play any MIDI when in the game. Sound works when I click buttons and choose stuff when I can choose stuff in the game, but MIDI won't play.

Go to Control Panel, go into Sounds and Audio Devices, go into Advanced under the volume bit and put SW Synth up full.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

EDIT:
I tried to play some MIDI files from a music player and it doesn't seem to work at all! Hmm, this strange.

If that's the case, check the "properties for audio and sound devices" in your control panel and set the MIDI device to "Microsoft GS Wavetable software" (if it isn't set to that already).

It was just me being stupid, I forgot that I had some "hardware technician" to install a new CPU fan. And my integrated sound card died after that, so I got a new sound card which needed some driver updating
