Dink Magazine? And one other question...
I was wondering about something. Wouldn't a "Dink Magazine" be cool? It wuldn't be a magazine as such, but perhaps a monthly download which included articles on numerous Dink related things. For example, it could have a Q&A section on scripting, and maybe a walkthrough for a d-mod.
Items could also include features on upcoming or already released d-mods, and interviews with authors. It could give it's own review score to newly released d-mods (perhaps given a pre-release version so a pre-emptive review can be made, and this score (a percentage) could (if the author wished) be put on the title screen.
Different dinkers could do "freelance" work for it (in that, I mean those who don't put together the magazine regularly) such as : Simonk doing a section on creating new enemies (his speciality, in my opinion), or a look into the history of the DN, and the rise of its current *STARS* such as Simonk, and to a lesser extent Tyrsis, as well as a look at the legends of the DN such as Gary Hertal, Wesley, and the great Mike Snyder.
Perhaps a section.."On the board..." discussing goings on on the board (if anybody was flaming, or any interesting topics that arose).
I realise some of these things are done in a smaller form (interviews by PureEvil) but I can't help but feel that more is better.
Anybody else like the idea? And if so, who would be interested in taking part?
The other part to my question was that most Dinkers are doing it simply as fun, and a creative outlet. Many Dinkers are still in their early teens however, and I wonder if any have aspirations of entering the game design world?
Phew...I'm tired of typing!

I think it would be cool! The Dink staff members could do that! It would have information abou the site and Dink and so...cool!
And it would be cool to show a toplist on the site or the magazine who is the most active Dink member or who is the best or the badest or who has the best files and so!

Or not. Just on the main page or the board is fine.

Maybe for you, but not for me. Those don't cover by half the things I would like to include in the Dink Mag.

What I meant was that the things you mentioned could be posted on the mainpage instead of being a download.

Only if I get to do the cartoon section!!!
I would so do cartoons... dang, that's like all I do in Chemistry class, sit there and draw cartoons!
Point being, count me in if I can do cartoons.

I have no aspirations of becoming a designer - one that gets payed, that is. I'm more into writing, so count me in on that part. And, yes, I would like to know more too, about history and such. Cool idea!

i'm in too.
a little suggestion.
my brother's school had a magazine, but the teachers banned it or something.SO they made a site! and they put all the articles in there.
so we could get something like cjb or other free server and make a little magazine-site

WOW! I didn't think many people would want to be a part of this, but as they do, this could be nice!
Alli, of course you can draw cartoons, and it's a cool idea! I don't suppose you could send me a sample of one, so I can see what your work is like? (I'm not checking your credentials, but I'd like to see your pics!).
Bin, it's great you wanna be involved! I've been putting together some ideas for the first issue, and as you like writing, perhaps you would like to do either an article on some aspect of Dinking, or produce an extensive review on a d-mod?
Rusty, what sort of stuff do you think you could contribute? Are you a writer kind of guy or what?
Any one else wanting to join in (or anybody with ANY questions) please e-mail me at...
