Re: My forum!
I don't know if I'm allowed to post this... but, I have a forum. It has a section for practically anything! It's got a Dink section where you talk about General Dink and D-MODS, it's got a section where you talk about Flash, as well. It's got many more sections. So, I'd like as many people as possible to join this forum. It's actually started out pretty good, too.
The forum is here! The name of the Forum is Plumbers and my username is The Plumber.
I don't know if I was allowed to post this. It doesn't say anything on the rules page about it, anyway, please join it!

A forum is intended to talk about reasonably specific topics. For example, a game, or a program. If you have one forum for 10 different games or programs, most of them won't be posted in because they don't use that program, creating a scattered community. And that's not a good idea.
Also, turn the ability to VIEW forums and topics as a guest ON. I'm not registering if I can't check out what the forum is all about.

I did check that option, but the co-admin decided to turn it off. I'll turn it back on right away and tell him not to do it again.
The forum is all about Dink, Flash and Little Fighter 2. DInk, because you and I all like it, flash, because this other forum where I was advertising is about flash, and Little Fighter 2 because I like that game and a lot of people at the flash forum play it too.

Oh yeah, forgot about Nintendo. I'll add that.

Get paid hosting and a domain. Then I might consider joining your forum.

Indeed.
Indeed.
What, for a forum? Not worth the effort or money for just that, not for such a small forum/community.
Good Forum i also made my own after DD95 gave me the idea it's at http://www.freepowerboards.com/lcgamings/ i'm not sure how to make a link to it on this forum but anyway if you want to go there knock you brains out
Make your own topic, Unreal.
"Get paid hosting and a domain. Then I might consider joining your forum."
Why not just join it as it is? I don't wanna go to all that trouble.

If you want to make it a bigger community, get paid hosting and a domain. If you want to keep it small (and unable to do advanced things with the forum software, btw), keep it like this.

Because it's fabulous to use free forum hosting,
Because it's fabulous to use free forum hosting,
No, GlennGlenn. That is not a reason. It's an opinion.
No, DaVince. It really is fabulous to use free forum host.
Hey DD95, I registered and all that but I haven't received any emails about confirming registration. I'm pretty sure the email address I used was valid but...yeah.
No, Glenn. Start learning how to reason instead of blabbing "OMG ITZ GHEY". An opinion is still an opinion. If you want to state "it's fabulous" as a fact, come with reasons (which I don't think you REALLY have or could find to state that "it's fabulous" as a fact).
Well, free forum hosting is fabulous because homosexuals use it, and because the fabulous administrators of the free forum hosting site has advertisements which might contain homosexual content. That's why it fabulous.
Wow, and here I was thinking you had some intelligence. Come up with some reasoning based on facts next time.
Well, Glenn could be just joking around now, knowing that any rational argument he could make has little merit.

When you say "get paid hosting", do you mean me get paid?
How do you do that anyway? I might consider it.
"Hey DD95, I registered and all that but I haven't received any emails about confirming registration. I'm pretty sure the email address I used was valid but...yeah."
You don't get a confirmation email. You sign up and you can post straight away. I think I'll change it, you know, for security.

Well first of all, the URL's to the forums hosted at such places are hard to remember and I can't be arsed to use valuable time on a shootty forum hosted on some shootty slow ass servers in Africa. And the administrators of these free forum hosts think cash only. Not what's best for their clients, and as you might have noticed, if you go to any of the directories, and try to check some random forum, non of the forums hosted have gotten any popular, just some stupid people creating forums one after another making the server slow and omg LOL LALA OMGZZ.
Sorry, talking about this piss me off.
In conclusion; They suck.
EDIT:
Enough with this, I'm not interested in starting a flame war with you, either agree with me, or forever hold you peace. And I was not referring stupid people to DD95, it's cool that you made a forum!

It still doesn't let me log in, though. It just says "You have specified an incorrect or inactive username, or an invalid password.". And at the bottom of the page, it doesn't even say I'm logged in. It just says I'm a guest.

Glenn, what's wrong with forums hosted by forum hosting sites? How do you suggest I host my forum?

PM me your username and password. I can see your password anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

Click here to get paid hosting And download A stable version of phpBB and you're on a good track already
Yeah, I figured. I'll stop before things get out of hand.
phpBB is old. It lacks features. Its admin panel is not really easy to navigate, and doing things like deleting an user and all its posts (like a spambot) becomes a chore.
I'd say if you're going to use a host that supports PHP (paid or not), put SMF on it, not phpBB. It's got a lot more features (some of them bandwidth saving, like quick reply) and it's easier to manage for admins/mods.

SMF is a nice forum. I used it for my old site. And 2.0 is soon out. SMF will use Web 2.0 much more in their upcoming release.
Spambot or other kind of spammer; don't bother replying to such useless posts.
No. My post contained information on what to do in such a situation, so people will leave USELESS posts alone.
EDIT: to clarify, this post wasn't useless since I was explaining myself, heh.

I'm losing popularity. Can people please join? And tell others about it?
*grin* Yeah, cause your loss of popularity is SUCH a great incentive to join your forum.
[sarcastic]Mmm, thanks.[/sarcatic] Anyway, the forum does have a purpose. Uh... it will have a purpose. I'm making a website and the forum is the forum for the website.
