time to shine
Ok guys its phatboys time to shine. I want to start on my first DMOD. so what files do i need to download to get started?
First, go to C:\Program Files\Dink Smallwood\develop and look through the provided tutorials that come with the game. That will get you started.
You'll probably want to use a D-Mod skeleton, like Skeleton B. This works as a 'blank' D-Mod that you'll add a map, scripts, sounds, etc. to.
Tutorials
The Rudiments of Scripting is a rather good tutorial for learning how to script.
There are several Video Tutorials available (scroll down to the bottom of the page). These are videos that allow you to watch a D-Mod being created.
Tools
WinDinkedit is another map editor that works quite well. Some people still prefer Dinkedit, though.
You might want to try Easy DinkC, which is supposed to be easy to use. I haven't used it much myself, though.
Good luck!

ok ive got all that stuff is there anything esle that could help me with this?
That should be enough to get started... but there's tons of other things in the Development section that could be useful later.
ok thanks but what is the best video tutorial and how long is it?
The video tutorials can help with certain tricks or a specific part of D-Mod development but so far I see how to bomb a rock, hardness editing and warps.. so you'll have to read the tutorials to get the basics of D-Mod editing.
Edit: Ah, and WinDinkEdit introduction.. guess that's the more useful one at this stage in learning how everything works.

hey uh im havin some problems with the rudiments of scripting thing. the problem is that i have microsoft works and dont have microsoft word installed on my cpu so i cant read it. if someone would be kind enough to copy and paste it on here so i can put in on a wordpad or something like that can you?
I'll send it to you in a private forum k? Its quite long is all.
Exist a programa called WordView. I don't know it very well, but I think it is for viewing those formats of Microsoft. Maybe it could be useful for you.
You don't install things on the CPU, man. Just so you know. The CPU does the math.|
duh i can find anything there and i dont want to look for something that i dont really need
Umm, as far as I know that was his answer to YOUR question, you asked it
Are you expecting a direct download link or something? I can find WordView in the first page of Google results so if that's what you need to open a Word document, then you should be able to find it with Google. Otherwise, you could also trying something like WordPad to open the .doc file, I can't remember the tutorial to use anything fancy like WordArt so you'll probably be able to to read the text anyway.
