That was my thoughts exactly, I've still got a full 100. (which is odd, considering that I did send out a few when I actually got the account)

Um... Couldn't you just have gone to the gmail site and registered yourself? Or is this some kind of warped system?

@DaVince: You need an invitation to register, so you can't just go to the site and register. You first need to be friends with someone who has gmail.
@Sharp: I believe the amount of invitations replenishes over time, this wasn't the first invitation I send either.

When I first got my gmail, I got 4 invites, later it became 50 and even later there were 100.

I created my gmail account about a week ago. I have 9 invitations left(didn't used any yet).
