Nightwish
As this seems to be the hot topic almost everywhere today... Nightwish kicked Tarja Turunen out. How do you feel about it and do you think they'll remain as popular?
(In case the news didn't reach all of you, in minimal detail, the reason for this was that Tarja had acted too much a diva, and that Marcelo - her husband(?) - appeared to have changed her to be that way.)

I didn't know that. Can't say much about it, the minimal detail doesn't reveal the whole story (like there have been rumors in the past about the band members treating Tarja unkindly, which could've triggered Tarja's 'husband' to tell her to be more assertive, hmm) - and their site seems to be down as well. (Edit: there's a lightweight version running now)
As Tarja's the female vocal of the band, they'll either need a new female vocal that fits within the band's style or they'll need to continue without a female vocal (hard, as lots of their current songs use Tarja as main vocal).
What was the reason to kick her out? NightWish will never be the same...
Happy happy happy!! Me and my friend once had a chat about how they should kick her out, now it's happened. I seriously disliked her voice, I hope they'll find someone better to replace her. I think this change will be for the better, except if they get someone with a similar sound.
Even though you may not like her voice, you can't deny the fact that she was in fact a brilliant vocallist with extreme talent. That's why their music appealed to me.
I think the one who plays bass guitar is going to take her place, but without Tarja isn't it nightwish anymore.
In some press report, Tuomas said they're going to have a new female vocalist, so it probably won't be Marco doing the vocals (that would've been something, though
)

A new female vocalist???? WHat have these guys been smoking? Tarja is the one who belongs to nightwish.
Well, you can go to their site (now temporarily a lightversion) and read the open letter to Tarja - there, Tuomas also mentions a new female vocalist. (Link)
I've liked Nightwish since primary school but I think what they're doing now is brilliant. Serves her right. It's not like she cannot be replaced.. She is talented, but if her attitude is ruining the fun for the rest of the band members, then why bother? Surely you can find someone else who is talented too and doesn't think the other members are inferior. Tuomas was the one who founded the whole band anyway, not her.. And it's more than money to him and the other guys. So I think they had every right to. Also, if I would have a lifelong dream like that too, I'd do exactly the same. Surely they'll lose some fans, but again, they're not doing it just for money.
True, even though Tarja doesn't recognize herself in the open letter (Tarja's response
) but then, she didn't like the fact that the open letter commented on her husband so it's not very likely the band will continue with her - ah well, love makes blind, who knows
We weren't there so all we know comes from that letter, which could be biased.

Well, I still think that all four of them can't be wrong.. No matter what kinda open letters Tarja writes back. But yeah, doubt we even know what the situation is for real, we're just given little bits from here and there. Ah well, who cares. She's fired anyway.

nightwish wouldnt be anything without tarja to be honest if it had been a male singer they woulda just sounded like every other metal band
listen to tarot
Nightwish is still very unique, it's not all thanks to Tarja.
remember, she was only the singer, she never made any music.
