Ive found a new coder, who is fluent in many codes including:

He wants to learn Dink C and Make a multitude of Dmods including a MMORPG, Im getting him to join since he liked the demo when it was realeased...

No, they don't use it anymore, but I've grown up with it. I've been using it since I was 7 or something. And I miss it

He told me all the features, it might require a patch to run the client though he said
Not that surprising as I assume the original Dink has no multiplayer netcode

I asked SockOpen a few questions about the project...
SC: So your online project, is its name still Dink Online?
SO: Yes, It is still called Dink Online.
SC: Has it been tested
SO: Yes it has been tested with multiple people
SC: How Big is it?
SO: It is the standard map. I am more than likely going to expand it though, I like the original map, adding dungeons and new towns to it etc.. is what's going to be done probably.
SC: What will this game have in it?
SO: Area spells, guilds, online interactions including player versus player battles, hundreds of new monsters, spells, races and classes for your character, special feats for each type of race, lots of new items, online, message system and auction sales, etc.. Lots of things, with new graphics that still match with dink.
SC: What do the spells look like?
SO: They look like they would fit into Dink properly, although some of the area spells are pretty massive, they are very cool, I also added single target spells etc.. Overall, they are very well done.
SC: Will there be summoning spells
SO: Yes, you can summon anything from a frog to a daemon.
SC: What is the NPC AI like?
SO:
NPC's: They will not ask you the same question twice, or repeat statements, they are well done, and react to you based upon your karma, and previous replies to them.
Monsters: The AI is done exceptionally well, some monster's run away from you at low healths, some will fight to the death, some move faster than others, etc... They can navigate through the maps well, around walls etc..
Summons: Can be controlled with certain commands, they automatically follow and defend you though.
SC: When will you upload it to the Network?
SO: Within 48 Hours
SC: Will it be free
SO: Of course what type of Dmod costs Money!
SC: How big is this download anyway?
SO: The size should be quite small, most of the information is stored on the server, and I will attempt to keep client size as small as possible. Hopefully less than 10 megs.
SC: You said that most of the data is stored on the server, will this make it hell for dial up users, will they have a hard time?
SO: No, anyone with a stable connection should have no problems. People with a faster connection should have no clear advantage over those with a slower connection.
SC: Will network connections effect the login process?
SO: I have one of the most complicated networks, and I have no problem connecting. Everyone with a connection to the internet should be able to play the game.
SC: Will there be an Admin Team
SO: Sure, I will create a Counselor PLevel when I get back, it will allow you to teleport to players and answer any questions they may have, you will be invulnerable and incapable of attacking, or being attacked. You can still have a normal character of course though.
SC: Who would be on this team?
SO: You and me.
SC: When will it be up?
SO: I will have it posted on Monday, aswell as several screenshots, although, I would like some votes. lol.

SO: Go team sockopen, and vote for my sever by doing the following goto http://www.uogateway.com/download.php?id=31 and download/install program run it and goto Public Serverlist find Akara Essex on the list and vote for it by clicking the number of votes, then you can uninstall the program again

For the record, I think you're trying to pull some sort of trick on us, which would be kind of funny.
However, I'll suspend my disbelief for a few moments to ask some crucial questions:
1.Does the game make any use of the Dink Source, or just the graphics?
2.Who's running the server?
3.Why would anyone with the skills to undertake such a project actually do so?

1)It uses a rough 'guideline' from the original game, aswell as the graphics.
2)I will be running the server if someone else does not want too.
3)I am extremely bored, and used to play Dink quite a number of years ago, and felt it necessary to redevelop it.
Leethal, the one who did some of the graphics for the new items, spells, monsters etc... downloaded the game and attempted to make the new graphics match the old ones, so everything matched, which I believe he did an amazing good job on

As with most likely Vaporware, I'll believe it when I see it.
The 'hundreds of new monsters' part made the whole thing a bit unbelievable for me. But anyway, I'll see - I'm going on holidays tomorrow and I'll be gone till about the end of this month sooo.. by time I get back people will have level 50 while I still have to start with level 1
It would be interesting though the original map sounds a bit boring (I could be wrong though), would it be possible to create a new online world and 'assign'/ask several skilled D-Mod authors to each create a town/village/dungeon and use a subforum to keep track of all the data/variables involved so the player's actions can change things at other locations (i.e. player burns down a town, he visits another town and the NPCs don't like him for killing family members - but then at a smaller scale, burning a town would be big )
Hopefully it doesn't lag and so on. And does it have the ability to ban people in case some lamers decide to.. do lame things?

All I gotta say is I'll believe it when I see it. If I see a masterful peice of work, then horay for us all lets go eat cookies. But if I see a giant screen that says "STUPID, APRIL FOOLS!" or some shoot like that...may god have pity on your soul.

Hehehe. Well, it is highly possible that it is a lie but you never Know.. There have been many rumors like this, that what of people thought were lies turned out to be true.
