Hello friends. I love to play DMODs, and i decided i wanted to make one. But when i click on DINKEDIT it just says there was a problem and it needs to shut down. Editing existing DMODS i downloaded does same thing. Basically if i try to make a DMOD in any way it crashes. WHATS WRONG??? Ty--- Ryan

Do you have XP on your computer?
if you do, have you tried the dink patch,
i think it was a problem for me when opening dinkedit...

but i think you should get windink, it's a lot easier!

WinDinkEdit is a program that uses the mouse way more and is way easier to use then dinkedit. Download it from the site. As for the crash, I think you need patch 1.07 indeed.

it took years for me to understand the scripting...

but if you shall edit a D-mod, i still recommend to get windinkedit, it is a editor that is... it is...
more simplified!

read "develop.txt" and "tut-1" and when you can do mapping, read "rudiments of scripting"

Sigh, I will post the link then as I believe you haven't found the program yet?

Read the lines are written on the bottem of the screen.
right mouse on purple, select news screen, it is red, hooray
R = Sprite mode. E to go to the sprite librairy when you are in sprite mode. Page up and down to scroll through the sprites, select them or go back with esc. place em on the tile. Use m to put scrnmatch on making a sprite appear on the tile and if a part of it is above the tile make it appear on that tile for that part as well. Use D if all your sprites you place should be auto-hard.
T for tile mode, press either ` to 0 on your keyboard for different tiles, use your mouse to select them and then hit enter. Place it where you want it and use S to stamp it. H hardness mode, you'll see all the hardnesses. I shows info needed for scripting, right click on a sprite and select properties for it's properties. The rest you should figure out yourself but it isn't that hard I think...

More simplified? whatever windinkedit is, it's not that.

Perhaps he meant that it's easier to use because you can operate with the mouse in addition to the keyboard. Outside of that, I don't really see it being much more "simplified."

Any fool can use a computer. Many do.
Yeah, but that's not very useful in my experience as I place my sprites with the keyboard, using the arrows and shift to move larger distances. When you get used to it, the placement of sprites is faster and more precise than placing them with the mouse.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

And I wasn't voicing my opinion, I was just trying to make sense out of someone..
