New D-Mod Demo: Outlander
The long-time Lord of Amoebas has released his first D-Mod, a demo to Outlander. You receive a mysterious letter. Now, I think I see where Amoebalord is going with this thing... the gameplay dynamics of letter receiving have been largely untapped, and could bring about an entirely new genre of gameplay.
Anyway, one important note: he says that it requires the Windowed/32-bit mode dink.exe in order to run correctly. I think it might run under the normal Dink.exe, but it will cease to look correctly.

Maybe it's just me, but is anyone having trouble installing the windowed dink? I'm not very computer savvy, but it seems impossible to install unless you know some programming...
No, you just need to extract the included Dink.exe file (like rename it to dink_32bit.exe) and run the D-Mod using that .exe by using a command prompt or a short cut:
Start -> Run ->
"C:\Program Files\Dink Smallwood\dink_32bit.exe" -game outlndr -truecolor -dinkpal
Or where you've got the new 32bit .exe installed and outlndr is the name of the directory of the Outlander D-Mod.

...<sigh>... That makes about about as much sense as me getting married again. Why couldn't this new dmod work like all the other dmods?
Because Mr. Amoeba wanted to have lots of purty colors.

That prompt didn't seem to work. I got, "Could not find 'Program'."

When I try the shortcut method, I get, "The name 'C:\Program' specified in the target box is not valid. [...]"
It should be:
"C:\Program Files\Dink Smallwood\Dink_32bit.exe" -game outlndr -truecolor -dinkpal
Change the path if you've installed it somewhere else. Don't forget the two "" and the parameters (where outlndr is the D-Mod directory).

That's how this project started out, but after the source was released and no one made a dmod with 32 bit/windowed mode, I thought I would (if no one starts using the new engines, it won't get anywhere).

Hey, why doesn't anyone create a FrontEnd for the 32-bit/windowed Dink.exe?
