ok, I have a problem that I hope you guys can help me out on. I recently downloaded the dmod stone of balance. The file is supposed to be about 9.98 mb's yet when I download it it only downloads 7.80 mb's of it and when I play the game there are glitches everywhere and parts of the game I finished already keep repeating themselves. Can anyone tell me how I can fix this problem? this has also happend to me with a few other dmods as well

actually, it is just the stone of balance dmod that is giving me the download problem. all the other dmods I downloaded seem to download more then the file size whereas stone of balance seems to be missing story events

It must not be fully downloaded. Try again. It exactly is of the amount given in the download page, neither more or less.
Downloading it again will fix the problem

I did redownload it. three or four times and it still only downloads 7.80 mb's. I emailed the creator of the dmod. hopefully he can help me out

What mirror are you downloading it from?

I downloaded it from each mirror. the dink network, imgoingbed.com and dinkworld mirrors. they all download only 7.80 megs of the file

I'm a man, but I can change, if I have to.I guess.
Well, I'm thinking it might be aproblem with your Isp server. They just keep sending you the same file and whatnot. Why don't you get somebody to get the file, change then name slightly, and then send it to you on msn or something. I'd offer, but I'm off to make hamburger with my fingers. Gotta love glasswork.

ok, here is somethint wierd I just found out. maybe you guys can figure it out. All other dmods I downloaded were correct but the funny thing is that every demod I've downloaded that were made by Simon K. have all downloaded incorrectly. I tried downloading his pilgrim quest just now and it ws only downloaing 33.15 megs of it's 39 meg size. Same goes for one of his smaller dmods. If anyone has the full stone of balance game and can send it to me via msn or yahoo or something I would appreciate it

If I was a paranoid sort of a person I'd say someone has it in for me...

But it sounds like the DMODs you are downloading are not fully there. Mind you I've not checked the downloads for my DMODs for some time - they are a couple of years old now.

EDIT: Hmmm - I've just downloaded SOB at it was 7.995 MB - so um... hmmm, maybe making it into .dmod file saved a few MB - I don't know.

the pilgrims quest one donwloads wrong too. it astill only downloads 33 megs of the 39 meg size. if you have any messengers or something simon could you maybe send me the full game through a messenger? unless you fix the prob then I'll download it from this site

also, about stone of blance. I think I mentioned this beofe but the game is so jumbled up for me that everytime I finish a story event then leave and come back to the screen it repeats the same event I just finished. there are also rocks where they shouldn't be. paths are blocked off when they shouldn't be. it's crazy, lol. hopefully you can fix it cause it's a great looking game and I'd like to play it

I've got an older version on my laptop - ver 2.11b or something which I can zip up and send (well actually SOB is backed up as a zip...)

I've downloaded the one from DinkWorld and it was the 7.99 thing for me. Mind you when I dfarc'd my unzip SOb 2.11b backup it came to 8.32 MB - so now I'm a bit confused.

Been sick with the 'flu this weekend so haven't had time to test/fix or re-upload... I've try and put a version of SOB up on my dinkworld site - and you can try that.

ok, thanx. Like I said, it seems like a cool game from the reviews it got so I would definitely love to play it, even if I have to download an older version and slap patches on it or something. cya

Okay I've put up an older 2.12 zip version and a patch 1.41a for it.

But then I ran dfrc on this uninstalled version and it's patch at it came in at 7.99 MB, so I figure the size on this site's download page is based on the days when it was a zip file. But that doesn't account for the weird stuff you had happen. So... download the old ver 2.12 and the patch to 14a and you should be right.

As an aside I installed PQ 1.32 and the patch 1.41 then dfrc'd that and it came to 32.1 MB as a .dmod file versus the 40 MB zip file version.

That's about all I can tell. If either game starts doing weird stuff let me know.

I downloaded pilgrims quest and it came out to roughly 34 something megs. The game seems to work perfectly though. It seems sob was the only one that gave me probs. I'm downloading the file now and the patch. by the way, with these patches. When I extract it does it extract itself automatically into the game file or do I have to slap it in there myself?

Any fool can use a computer. Many do.
The good old .zip file will require some manual file extracting.. .dmod will do it automatically, if you have DFArc installed of course.

ok, I do not understand this at all. I downloaded ther zip file and extracted it. I got the story folder, the grahics folder, etc but no sob game file. what am I doing wrong?

I don't know ehere in the dmod to install the patch I mean. in the story folder, in the main sob folder? I have no clue. plus I didn't download the patch in the normal way it is usually downloaded. I downloaded it in zip format

Patches overwrite the old files and perhaps add some new ones as well. Your patch zipfile likely has a Story directory and some other files. If that's the case, just unzip them in the main sob directory and it'll place them in the Story directory as well, possibly asking you if you want to overwrite the old files.

plus I didn't download the patch in the normal way it is usually downloaded. I downloaded it in zip format

That's the way it has been done for years till DFArc got introduced

thanx. cause I had to download an older version of sob in order to make the game work right so I have to set the patch right so the game updates to the correct version

okay. I did what ya said. it asked me if I wanted to replace the old files with new ones so hopefully the game will be correct now. thanx again

hey simon, I noticed a little error in the game that is nothing serious. When I added the patch and played the game, you know at the beginning after the stone blows up and those two priests are talking? well you see one priest but not the other. you see the words the other priest is saying but he's invisible for some odd reason. no big deal though. other then that the game seems to be running fine now. I'll let ya know if I find anything else

Hmmm, must be something different between patch 14a and patch 14b - I don 't have patch 14b... I'll have to investigate

hey, about Pilgrim Quest simon, in the first town whenever I try to buy weapons that dang taxcollector comes and takes my money and all my weapons. How do I get around him? do I need to save up just enough for the weapon I want? cause it seems if I buy something and have money left that is when the taxcollector comes in and annoys me.
