Just seeing if any other Canadiens saw this on the news
This
I think I saw a glimpse of it on the National.
You know your old hometown is fudgeed up when shoot like this starts happening. And to think that this kind of stuff has been happening for years now... It makes one so angry...
Bloody hell, why Travis, why?

Bullying is a strange thing.
The bully may just feel like he is *expressing* himself. Yet It changes the course of a life ever after.

Everybody is bullied in their life time some cant just take it and move on. Schools can only do so much, so I don't see why they always blame the school... My school has 2,000 people in it and thats 2,000 people with their own problems. But anyway thats just my view on it and it may be different in Canada, evrything seems to be different from USA.

Eh, the problem is that schools don't do anything and will ignore most problems like this and their roots. All the while, they are focusing on minor things such as making sure the administration office is air conditioned or that any student not in class when the bell rings is given detention and/or a suspension. But that's not much different from how things are in real life... which isn't right either.
The only thing I'm afraid of is that the schools may one day overcompensate (as they often do) for these behaviors and crack-down on minor, maybe even harmless indiscretions.
The modern established education system, in my eyes, cannot even reach the lofty heights of mediocrity.
...
I've also lived in Canada. It's quite a bit like the U.S. only with a bit less of a "Go Fark Yourself" attitude, which has grown rather prominent and wearisome as of late.

Well I hadn't seen the article,Chrispy, but I'm not all that surprised. It's not the first time or even the youngest kid to kill themself over bullying at school. Some kids get picked on worse,so it's not just that they 'cant take it'.
I dropped out of school back in grade 9 because I couldn't take being there anymore.Fortunately I did end up getting my grade 12 later on.
But I never had it as bad as some did,I know because I saw and I did nothing just like so many others. But I was a kid,so I didn't know how to stop it without having the 'guns turned on me' so to speak. The teachers and parents are the ones who have to do something.Somebody does.Recently I saw schools teaching anti-bullying to younger kids.If we can teach them anger-management and give them 'life skill' training while they are still young, then maybe we can,at least, cut down on the bullying. It's working with the whole 'anti-smoking' thing,so why not?!

Hemingway wrote in "A Farewell To Arms," something to the tune of, The world trys to break everyone, who it cant break it kills, they who are broken, heal, and become tougher at the broken spot... He also write Lifes just a dirty trick but thats a different story...
But yeah I have seen the situation a dozen times, the little kid is getting picked on by some guy who breathes in steroids, I have steped in, just the kinda guy I am, of corse I am the oppisite of the little guy, being largest second only to this dude who has to lean over to walk into the class. The only thing that makes me mad is that I have had friends sent to POC(public opportunity center) For stupid things while this guy is still slapping a underclassmen around.
Also if yo take up school time with anti bully and smokeing campaigns does this take away from the education of the class... I am not saying it isnt a useful use of class time or that it is... just a thought

Why does the government expend so much energy trying to stop people from smoking pot but they don't have any dang programs about bullying, They stop people from decorating the urban landscape and actually expressing themselves in a productive and artistic manner (vandalism my ass) but they allow such as dylan klebold and his buddy to slip through every part of the system and kill themselves and many others, if big brother wants all of this power, shouldn't he take the inherent responsibility and get off the back of that for this time at least unsolveable problem.
