Are any of you interested in being authors? If so please respond to this message and tell me so.

If enough people respond I will create a yahoo or msn group for budding authors. Also, please tell me which group you would prefer.

I myself am one.

I write novels. I am in the process of trying to get one published.
But I'm terribly secretive about what it is my stories are actually about, so don't try to get too much out of me.

Okay, I understand. I have a similar view myself because I don't want people to get to know the characters too much ahead of time. Are you intereested in my group idea though? It could be of interest or use to you still.

I don't know. I like to work at things alone.
But that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to meet others with the same goals.

Exactly. Meeting is the main reason I want to do the group, not just for sharing ideas (although the good thing about doing that is that you get unbiased opinions).

Yes, dragons... how fudgeing original.
How about giant creatures, kilometres in length, which lie dormant in the ground. Great cities have been built upon their backs, and when these Ancient Ones awake, they slowly rip themselves from their bed of earth and stone, cascading all that crap to the floor.

Just imagine it. A dormant creature of size beyond comprehension, sleeping on the EArths surface. It awakes, and begins striding at an unstoppable, yet incredibly slow pace through the land. Earth, stone and vegetation falling from it's sides, and a great citadel constructed upon it's rock solid (quite literally) carapace. Bones of granite, blood of... umm, well... maybe it doesn't have any blood.

Or something like that anyway... you should see the picture in my head. I've got a hatchet if you want to have a peek.

EDIT: And also, out of interest... what is the longest story anybody here has written? I don't know how long mine would be... but it's not long at all.

"...dragons are major themes in my books."

That is the scariest sentence in the English language.

(I'm not saying that you don't write good books about dragons, but look at the mounds of crap fantasy written on the topic. *shivers*. But hey, if you can be clever and original about it, more power to you!)

I'm a man, but I can change, if I have to.I guess.
I've written a little bit, but it wasn't much more than 75 pages... Fairly rough, and fairly fanstasy, so yeah, it's not gonna ever be published. (OR read by anyone else, either!)

Originality is my middle name. My dragons are like none you've ever seen. And I mean intelligent ones that those crappy animalistic ones in those books you are talking about. And really most of them are only nhc (or non-hero characters).

I have also been inspired by books have managed to make dragons interesting, such as the Dragonlance sreies, Mistress of Dragons and Eragon.

Also my main two characters are quite original: half-dragons/half-humans.

Also it covers something that to my knowledge is only done in Eragon: the childhood of dragons.

Just because the concept is unoriginal doesn't mean the exection is. Look at the Final Fantasy games... the concepts behind the games isn't very original... but the exection is highly original. My stuff is highly original. Give me an email address and I can even send you a extract to prove it if you wish.

In fact anyone else who is interested can do the same...

As a matter of fact Final Fantasy games were actually extremely original (Original Final Fantasies) which is why they became so popular, there had never been a game like it

Yes the exection was. Until 10 the concept behind the games wasn't. especially 1. It was just a ripoff og DragonQuest.

Don't get me wrong though, i am a final fantasy FANATIC.
