I have windows xp pro, with an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000, and I play with the keyboard. Dink is going far too fast and it's really hard to control him. I downloaded the patch ; my monitor is on 60 ; I also tryed to run the game with another windows compatibility (like windows 2000)......but, after hours of vain efforts and searches on forum etc, I do not manage to fix the problem
Any charitable soul to help me solve this problem ? (by the way, I am a computer dumb).
[I just discovered the game, find it great and would love to get into it, but on a normal 'rythm'...]
In advance thanks a lot.

Start/Settings/Control panel/Display/Settings/Advanced/Performance.
If your hardware acceleration is down raise it.(this is the path on Win98. Xp may vary.)

Thank a lot for your attention and advice.
I followed your suggestion Ric but the hardware acceleration was already at the highest (I tryed also to put it downer but nothing changed). I also think that the problem might be somewhere in the Advanced Settings of the Display...maybe.
I am looking forward the suggestions of Merlin to solve this annoyance !
Anyone had this problem before ? (reading the old messages in the forum I couldn't find more explanation).

You need to enable vsync. You need to have the manufacturer's (ATI) drivers installed (Hopefully ATI will let you install the Catalyst drivers on a laptop. You'll have to download the plain 9000 drivers though (it won't say Mobility). I hope you don't have dialup). Right-Click the desktop, click properties, click Settings, and click Advanced. Look through each of the tabs and click the check box that says "Enable VSync". Click OK.

Merlin, you are really Magic! I followed your advices, put my nose in Ati.com for a while, managed to enable the Vsync and.......it's runing great. Thank you sooooooo much. I can now fully enjoy Dink world. Great !
I told you. This forum is a better help then the other one. Here are much more people.
See now you can have a lot of dink Fun and you can play a lot of dmod's.

merlin, sweety (LOL) after my most recent computer crash, I had to download and re-install Dink Smallwood. however now he looks like he's taken one to many uppers (in the main game) and is *bouncing* all over the place. I did however manage to get to a save bot, so I can play dmods. Hopefully that does not do that while playing dmods. I don't see nothing to change on my poor old Win95 and I have never had this problem before.
well crap... I just wanted to edit my previous message, but it wouldn't let me. Anyhow, I was Playing Carrie's new dmod or trying to, as Dink is still bouncing around, pushing walls(??) and saying *I am gesturing wildley to no avail* and no I wasn't hitting the magic button, after all these years I do no how to play (although I felt like giving Dink a good smack or one of Dukie's specials...lol)
And why can't I edit/modify my post?

Do you have a gamepad plugged in? Try twirling the directions around before starting Dink, and it should work.
And you should be able to modify your post.

No and No,,, I redownloaded it and DirectX 8 and reinstalled them both. Dink still running around like he has a fire in his pants. Must be my computer (Win95), maybe the settings are off (??) or something...
Everything including drivers for my graphic card have already been updated. Dink will now get as far as the old waoman's house and goes off to look for the duck, before he starts walking helter skelter into things. Although from the first he is talking about having no magic, and *gesturing arms to no avail*.
TY for your advice, though Merlin.
