Didn't matter to me. It's great software.

There's a free alternative, the GIMP, but it isn't as good or easy to use.

Actually...I don't think using this snooty latte-drinking system is as difficult as it looks.
Although it is crashing a lot. I blame crappy/nonexistant graphics card or lack of memory.
But all is good...

Daniel, there are clowns.
PaintShopPro also works quite well, and is quite a bit cheaper. It doesn't have all the same functions as PhotoShop, but it still is a very powerful graphics tool and supports vector graphics, which last I saw, PhotoShop does not.

3DS Max is more powerful and less ugly than Blender, but still very complicated and has a steep learning curve. It's also very, very expensive.

I find 3ds very comfortable to work with. I would rank Lightwave 3D in second, Maya in third, and Blender in fourth. I don't like Blender's interface.

It's alright for games that are 3d since it has a lot of 3d import/export options. However, it would be a poor choice for making sprites in Dink. I tried it once, and you're far better off using a free program such as Blender or Anim8or for making 3d rendered sprites.
