We can out-drink most Americans!

The average women's thighs are one and a half times larger in circumference than the average man's. (for you younger guys, word of advice..never call your gf's legs fat,big or anything like that)

The banana is the world's largest herb. (I feel a discussion coming about this one)

The smallest island with country status is Pitcairn in Polynesia, at just 1.75 square miles (4.53 sq km). (hence no air pollution, as they don't need cars)

Roses:

Eighty percent of the world's rose species come from Asia. (I guess those Asians are very romantic people )

Sun:

If a pin was heated to the same temperature as the center of the Sun, its heat would set alight everything within 60 miles of it. (please do not try this at home, and yes I mean you Merlin)

Polar Bears:

The most carnivorous of all bears is the polar bear. Its diet consists almost entirely of seals and fish. (in my next life, I do not want to come back as a Polar Bear)

a few I forgot:

Eli Whitney made no money from the cotton gin because he did not have a valid patent on it.

French toast isn't French. It comes from a Roman cookbook, dating back to 1000 or 2000 B.C., and titled "Apicius on Cooking."

A dragonfly flaps its wings 20 to 40 times a second, bees and houseflies 200 times, some mosquitoes 600 times, and a tiny gnat 1,000 times.

Human Eye: You blink every 2-10 seconds. As you focus on each word in this sentence, your eyes swing back and forth 100 times a second, and every second, the retina performs 10 billion computer-like calculations.

Carbon Dioxide: Cars produce about four times their own weight in carbon dioxide each year. The average home produces 50 tons of carbon dioxide each year.

Tornados: During Canada's summers, an average of one tornado every five days is reported in Canada, compared to five tornadoes every day in the United States.

Hm. Magicman usually seems to be the only one who replies to my posts.. I guess I'm not that noticeable

But isn't sun's corona quite a few times hotter than it's center? How big area would it lit alight if the pin would be that hot?

The center of the sun can reach 15,000,000 K. The corona can reach about 2,000,000 to 5,000,000 K.

You can do some proportions and compare for yourself, but I have a feeling it grows exponentially.

Oops. Was it the surface which is less hot, then?

I think it has something to do with 1/(2*PI*r^2), with r being the distance to the center of the sun. (It's 1 divided by the formula for the surface of a sphere with radius r)

EDIT: Merlin is right, that should be 4*PI*r^2... Silly me...

The surface area of a sphere is 4*pi*r^2.

Wanderer of the Wasteland
-The average person eats 2 spiders in their sleep each year.

-A girl was once discovered in West Texas to have been living "wild" for thirteen years. The hair from her head covered her whole body like a gown and she walked on all fours not knowing how to talk and afraid of humans. it was believed she had been raised by wolves. She was institutionalized...

-The same goes for a small boy in Africa who wondered away from the village one day...except he had been raised by monkeys.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller
