Hm.. a show on discovery chanel was talking about a chef at Caesars' palace inventing it. Along with a customer in NYC compaining that the french fries were too thick so the chef fried thin slices just to spite him and invented potato chips.

well, 1924 predates that Caesars palace story. Good thing patent rights arn't an issue.
Also there is a type of spider whos babies have been dicovered as microscopic dust at very high altitude. One scientist said it is possible for one of these to catch a solar wind to mars and beyond they are so tiny. THAT, I'll beleive when I see it.
