I just found out I apparently belong to a small group that is classified as Über Poster, and of wich the others members are Redink1, RustedSorrow, SabreTrout and WC. Something that doesn't mean anything at all, nor says anything significant, but is nice to know anyway.

I never wanted to become one. And since I haven't been on DN regularly (in fact, just a few times) since last january, I must've become one before that time.

Actually, Simeon, I'm kinda surprised that you're not in that category.

It seems that once your status has been upgraded on the Board Posting Rank it can never be downgraded since there are a few people who have "Graduated Newbie School" or are classified as an "Almost-Regular Poster" that I haven't seen in a very long time, if ever.

I've always wondered how many posts it takes to get to each category. Can somebody answer this?

Usually around 15-20, but if I manage to worm my way in, it can drop to as little as 4.

neithskye: I wouldn't know if I'm close to becoming it or if I have to go another hundred. We could once see our number of posts - for not even a day - and like merlin asks, then I wouldn't know the number of posts to get that rank.

Oh well, I'll post along and one day...

No, that has got nothing to do with it. Just look at the others and see how many (little ) reviews they have written.

And that didn't work, remember, Simeon? It looked like a posting-war.

I know, I know. Therefore it's now kinda difficult to see whether one's close to a new rank or not. And we don't know the requirements for a new rank (number of posts, that is).

The amount of posts required to change ranks is dynamically allocated... its based on whether a person has posted over a certain fraction of the total amount of posts on the board, both ignoring deleted posts.

Mmmm, pizza.
So... basically, if you don't post for a long enough time, and the total posts are doubled (that's LONG, I know...), and you have posted half of the original posts (spammer, or very few members left, it's just an example), then you would have a quarter of the new amount of posts, so your rank drops too?

Wow, reading that, it might be a bit unclear... Oh, well, I could still understand it.

i remember redink saying that my posts are about 1% of the whole posts on the board...

I remember Redin telling me exactly how many posts I did in a space of a month (this was a while ago). It was stupidly high, second only to WC.
I like being a Uber Poster, though I'd prefer to be a Uber generally.
