I was wondering, how many Ancients have people created in d-mods? I can think of a few, (Seth, FIAT, Jameil) but was wondering what other ones there might be...
I've been thinking about Ancients a lot recently, in regard to Cloud Castle 2, and was wondering how other authors saw them?
Exactly WHAT is an Ancient? It would be nice if there were similarities between d-mods, as it would create consistency.
And yes, for Dinkers who have been around a while, I miss the Timeline.

Nah, Jveenhof's new D-Mod was/is supposed to have Ancients in them.. he once posted a message asking for (Dink) Ancients..

I regard the Ancients as 'creatures' similar to the titans in greek mythology.

Yes, I think that's a good analogy. Like Cronos and the early Gods, before Zeus et al.

In the time before that which you have but dreamed of, the giants walked the earth, the dwarves mined the earth, the Elves hunted in the woods... the Ancients travelled all lands: Earth, Water, Spirit...

This old and mysterious race are the progenitors of all that we now know. Their knowledge and power is unthinkable. Their motives, as should be, hidden.

Awaken them at your peril...

If I remember correctly, didn't Gaea and Uranus exist before all other gods according to Greek Mythology?

You need to interview each of the Ancients. You're really good. That sent shivers down my spine.

Gaea was his mother whom he married. She later on has him killed or something. These two produced the titans.

Edit: oh yeah I remember now. She and her son had all these children (before birth control) and she had him castrated. That was one way to cure that.

I think the Titans killed Uranus and eventually (after a long story about Cronus swallowing his children) The Olympians conquered the Titans.
-There was a lot of incest in Greek Mythology.

Catacombs featured an (unnamed I think) ex-ancient. There's been an number of d-mods with "an ancient meaner and nasterier than Seth". I wouldn't worry much about keeping track of them all though. Most d-mods aren't fully consistant with each other.

Yeah, I guess you're right. But I do think it would be nice for most d-mods to show some consistency... but it won't ever happen. Oh well.

Why is this Timeline so important?

The Timeline was the timeline of all the important events related to Dink and characters in the Dinkiverse. One could see what already happened with characters. For example, if you create a D-Mod with Dink's mother, it simply has to take place before the original adventure. This is the same with other characters/events/situations.

Edit: a very very old version of the Timeline is still up. See here. It explains it in more detail.

I don't remember any homosexuality among the gods, but I think sometimes gods or goddesses would take the form of a male or female and perhaps they had sex with the "same" sex. I'm sure there was mention of homosexuality in Mythology.

The problem with the timeline was that everybody had different ideas about what had happened to different characters. Dinks mother, father etc.
I would like a new timeline to be created, but only d-mods which would fit into it could be put in. It would be nice to get a coherent Dink Universe going again.
It's nice when you get references to other d-mods in a game. I tried to do that a little bit with Cloud Castle, having Kargs skull...but I think Birth of an Empire was set long AFTER Dinks days... so never mind...
