There have been many notices of someone hosting a chat for dinkers to be there and discuss things. I would like to be there and am unclear about where to go or how to join in. I saw that there are several ways To choose a path(?), a connection(?). I think I will download Trillian but not sure that is the one used for the purposes I want. What is the one usually used for chats? Geez, Now I hope I didn't say something wrong.

It's pretty well explained here. Links to download Trillian or Mirc are provided, but I think the easiest and probably best way for most non-computer-literate persons to join is through the java chatroom. The Java room is pretty self-explainitory.

Edit: These all connect you to the same chatroom, just so you know.

Yes, I've looked at that page before. And downloaded one of them on my old puter but the few times I went to the site, there was no-one there so I thought , maybe, I was in the wrong place. As you said, I'm non-computer-literate. However your comment about connecting to the same chat room clears up a lot for me. Thanks

We can out-drink most Americans!
Downloading Trillian, is also the best chat messanger, as it contains: MSN, AIM, Yahoo messanger and of course IRC which is the best way to get to a Dink Chat.

While most Windows users, including Kat , prefer to use Trillian, I am one of those Open Source Freaks who prefer to use GAIM. With the proper plugins (included), It is compatible with AIM (Oscar and TOC protocols), ICQ, MSN Messenger, Yahoo, IRC, Jabber, Gadu-Gadu, and Zephyr networks. And, it's fully skinnable, works on many different platforms (Linux, BSD, MacOS X, and Windows, and Qtopia (Sharp Zaurus and iPaq)). It also includes the best of features from all of the clients, such as file sharing, buddy icons, buddy pounce, buddy ticker, iconify on away, and more. It's neato.
