...slide puzzles are fun... slide puzzles are cool... slide puzzles can't hurt me...
Fun fact:
I have a text file stored somewhere with the solutions when I first started designing these with Robj. It's just not included in the Dmod anywhere.
You've also not said which of the sliding tile puzzles this was for

If you solve these puzzles row by row, from top to bottom and when you get a row solved don't touch it again, they really arent that difficult, and you dont need a 256 step guide to do it if you solve it like this.
Only thing is once you solve the first 3 rows, the last two rows you need to start solving column by column, so it'll be 2 tile columns, from left to right, once again, when you get a column into place, you do not have to touch it again.
So step 1: Row by row, top to bottom for the first 3 rows. Once you solve a row, don't touch it again.
step 2: Column by column from left to right to solve the last 2 rows, once a column is solved, don't touch it again.
If you do it this way, you are breaking the puzzle into smaller puzzles, and you NEVER have to mess up what you already solved to solve the rest of it, the rest will always be solve-able within itself without having to swap any of the SOLVED portions out.

thanks for the response! i got stuck on it for a very very long time so i just ended up writing it down, in case anyone else is dumb like me. absolutely dont doubt there was a better way to do it lol.
also - the steps were for the first one with the picture of dink. i had similar problems with the second one.

actually i think i did solve it the way you suggested, with the first 3 rows down, then the rest collumn ways.. how many moves do you think it should have taken?
Not sure how many moves, I don't count them, but it takes me no more than 5 minutes to solve a randomly scrambled 5x5 sliding tile puzzle just using the logic I explained above. My best time is 33.4 seconds (there's an app that has these types of puzzles on them). They aren't hard if you stick to the above approach. I think people probably get confused at the end of each row (the last 2 tiles), if you try to just place each one into position singularly you can end up in a loop where they are back to front. To rectify this you gotta place the last 2 tiles in the row correctly next to each other, but down on the next row and a couple of tiles to the left, then snake them into position(keep them together, move them both, not splitting them up, if that makes sense), that works everytime.
thanks! again, i think its just my brain that has trouble with these. once i got the dink face one the others were a bit easier. just finished the dmod last night, thanks for making it! i thoroughly enjoyed it. seems i only got to 75% though so i might reload an old save and see what i missed.
