A thread for people to ask random questions about mapping, or answer those questions.
(also feel free to share screenshots)

example:
How do I make elevation in an indoor(wooden tiles) screen?
maybe like a stage, not tables for people to stand on, but a big section of the screen being higher than the rest.

Here's a few ideas for a stage.

This first image uses the bar sprite. The simplest way to do it IMO. you can clip the bar to be lower or add some 'stairs' I used benches with fence as railing.

Another one. Same idea slightly different implementation.

This is what you're probably asking for. Using a different tile for the different level makes a world of difference here. The lip of the stage is made from clipped bottle shelves. I also clipped the side walls and I think that helps add some depth.

Finally this is the last one with the plain ol' wooden floor tile. I switched from using the bottle shelves to bar sprite to break it up more. It kinda works but I feel like the effect is severely diminished.

Making the parts so Dink can walk over it you have to adjust the depth sp_que() or set sprites to background.

the second two are what I was asking for, thanks it is great
i will most likely use the last one, or the last one with clipped shelves

although the first two also look very good, probably more fit for a smaller stage

thanks again!
