So? Mine does too, but I still got it. Norton can't erase it by the way, you'll have to get the removal tool from their site and quickly install the Windows Update that will prevent it from ever happening again.
Wrong. This virus is a very NICE virus, and all it does, basically, is spread further. It's NOT a bad virus, it doesn't do anything with your data, all it does it restart your computer a lot. It's also very easy to remove with the right tools, and if you have a decent firewall, you won't even be infected by it.
Not new either, I got that like... months ago. Yeah it's well easy to get rid of.
It's not a virus. It's a worm. Actually, this "virus" does not go for Windows NT or Server 2003. It will affect them, however the worm is not coded to go specifically for those systems. I'm glad I use Linux .
From Symantec's website:
W32.Blaster.B.Worm is a variant of W32.Blaster.Worm that exploits the DCOM RPC vulnerability (described in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-026), using TCP port 135. The worm targets only Windows 2000 and Windows XP machines. While Windows NT and Windows 2003 Server machines are vulnerable to the aforementioned exploit (if not properly patched), the worm is not coded to replicate to those systems. This worm attempts to download the rod32.exe file to the %WinDir%\System32 folder, and then execute it. This worm does not have any mass-mailing functionality.
