If Dink Smallwood MIDI music was played on SC-55
Heya, I've made a playlist of Dink Smallwood's MIDI music if it was played by using Roland's Sound Canvas, a.k.a SC-55. I've used a fan-made soundfont which makes it sound similar to that hardware and then converted it into a music format.
Most of the titles were made up by me and make sure to read the description to know the origin of some tracks.

I recommend listening to them via headphones.
It may sound similar to the one Windows uses, but ya can hear the differences between them when you compare.

For me, I prefer the old midi versions.
To me they sound a little clearer, at least from what I tested. Also the titles were a little confusing, I also prefer the old ones since if I knew the scene I go have a great guess of what the tune was, but the new titles are on and off with the guessing.

It sounds identical to the inbuilt Yamaha GS Wavetable synth in Windows 98 onwards, and because you're using a soundFont it probably ignores any sysex messages for effects (if any).
I'm tempted to boot up my old laptop which has an OPL3 in it for some proper old Dink charm.

yeah, this sounds exactly the same to me.
Holy nostalgia! I swear some of these sound nearly identical to how it sounded back when I played Dink on my Windows 98 computer. Somehow far more... all-encompassing, which I haven't heard since. MIDIs on newer computers just sound awful. I played the Stonebrook, Windemere and the title screen music from Dink's sound folder, and I swear your versions sound a lot closer to how I remember them originally sounding.
No kidding. I used to have a Soundblaster AWE32 running an 8mb ROM patch set and I still haven't found a card that did midis better for most games. TIE Fighter with its iMuse interactive music was an utter joy to play with that card. I miss it a lot.

Yeeeah, but it sounds exactly the same in a different way

yeah i guess. it's like, the exact same but with a sort of...remastered feel to it? it's like, 1080p sound.
Well that makes sense since the Yamaha GS Wavetable Synth in Windows uses a cut-down sample set directly taken from the SC-55, meaning that most of the sounds will be identical.
