Re: Alcohol
One topic inspired me to write this, and the question is, " Do you drink alcohol and if so how much".
I for one don't drink it because I am underage and don't want the other bad things, unlike my gangsta "friends".
P.S. If Pred says something about America being Corrupt in this thread, I kindly ask the Staff to delete the post/s.

Alcohol has nothing to do with corruption, unless you want to make the point about liver corruption. Many nations allow alcohol of some sort.
Now, I personally don't like to drink a lot. If I do drink, it's in moderation and in the privacy of my own home. It's typically light stuff like Mike's Hard drinks or Amaretto, or Captain Morgan. You know, the really light stuff.

I dislike the taste of alcohol, but would drink if I didn't.
I don't like alcohol nor approve of the consumption of it. It's the cause of more deaths than anything else in the US if I remember statistics correctly. It's horrible and really should be illegal.
I refuse to drink actually, in contrast to my drinks-all-around drunkard friends. I may drink some champagne on new year or get one low-alcohol beer or something at a party. But that's it.

My relatives have been rather excellent examples of what drinking and smoking can do to you, so I kindly say no thanks to both of those.
I drink N/A beer because I don't mind the taste of beer without the alcohol.
Otherwise I don't do any form of drugs for several reasons, from how they degrade society to being health conscious.

Every now and then I'll have a glass of wine or two or a sorta-wimpy cocktail like rum & coke.
I just have a slight feeling in exaggeration in this thread, but whatever. Also Kris, I had to say the note because Pred says about anything in America is corrupt.
When it comes to alcohol, moderation is key. I personally would go for things with good taste that aren't extremely high in alcohol content and aren't harsh.
As a side note, I plan on my twenty-first birthday to get drunk enough to get a hangover so that I know what it feels like and as a way to prevent myself from going overboard.

If you do, be careful of addiction and how does alcohol even make someone drunk?
That's where moderation comes into play, Dack. And alcohol is a depressant, meaning that it suppresses certain stimuli within the brain.
So that is why in ancient times, men drank before they went to battle, to suppress certain stimuli in the brain? Also moderation is easier said then done, I bet if we go to an AA meeting some would say they thought of moderation, and possibly kittens.
I drink sometimes because I like it, but I've never been drunk or even close. Time to stop if I start feeling lightheaded.
Only ever alone or with friends/family privately, going to bars etc is not my thing.
Cider is great, give me a chunk of cheese, some nuts and a bottle of cider and I'm happy.
A nice red wine can also be highly enjoyable.
Oh and whisky too is good stuff, depending on which one.
Can't drink beer as I'm coeliac but can't say I care...

Beer is nasty, it tastes like urine.

I was a weird kid, okay? And it was mine, so that mitigates the squick factor a bit.

Yeah, same here.
I don't have anything against people drinking lightly (as doing so can be healthy), but I hate to see drunk people and I stay away from alcohol because I don't want to take the risk of becoming addicted for no real gain.
If it's true that alcoholism really runs in families (though I have my doubts about that) then I have even more reason not to take the risk.

How can drinking lightly be healthy?
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

A reasonable amount of alcohol can be healthy for your heart. But I'd still rather not drink at all and avoid the risk of becoming an addict, which in the long run I consider much unhealthier.

@Kris, what about if your shot with a gun, I think you would just be weaker. Maybe a politician might do better, but still.
Steroids are healthier then alchohol.
@Pred, How and give a good reason with a plausible example.
If I'm shot with a gun, I'm wounded, not weaker. After a gun shot, I'd just regain my strength and get stronger.

Yeah, if you live in a fairytale world. If you got shot in, say, the leg, there's a high chance you would never walk again. Doesn't sound like getting stronger to me.

I have a tendency to persevere and thrive under duress.

Either that or be dead.

Yep. I drink as the spirit moves.
