Your favourrite gaming era/generation/year/years ect.
Mine will have to be some where in the early 2000s and heres why
-Game stotytelling got to the point where it was interesting
-Online gaming got the point it was reasonable
-But at the same time there was little to no DRM
-No day one DLC (Cough) EA(cough)
-The command and conquer series apart from red alert series overall was good(C&C4 kind of killed it)
- No On disc DLC LOL!
-First person shooter wernt quite as generic
-The glory days of the RTS genre
Well that's all that I can think on top of my head
What was you r favourite.

Well, the 80's had good metal and punk
But the era we live in now has Boxxy
So it's quite a toss up.

I think my favorite period of gaming was in the area of 1992-2002. At least, games made in that period, since I was born in 1993. I owned a Sega Genesis and that thing was amazing. Loved the Sonic games, especially Sonic 2. I got a Dreamcast for Christmas I think in 99 or 2000, and I played the duck out of it with Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. When I was that age, the Dreamcast was the greatest thing ever invented, it was so fun to play.
I also played a good amount of PC games, my favorite being Half-Life which came out in 98. It was by far my favorite game ever at the time, it was amazing. Killing aliens, using cool weapons, and it was a game that defined 3D FPS games. But I also enjoyed the classic 2D shooter Doom as well as the 3D Quake. Story didn't really matter back then, but Half-Life changed that, and gaming just really started becoming awesome at the turn of the century.
I love a lot of modern games too, some of my all time favorite games have come out in the last few years, (Portal 2, Mass Effect 3.) We're getting to the point now where games can just be spectacular. They have amazing graphics for one, we're heading into the most realistic graphics ever with the next gen consoles, and stories can go so in depth and emotional that it's just mind blowing. But there's something to love about the simplicity of those classic games I played growing up.

For me around 1990 to 2000 was probably my favorite years of gaming. I was born in 1991 but there are some games that came out the previous year that I loved. Super Nintendo is my primary reason for loving these years, plus Starcraft came out, my absolute favorite blizzard game, and Diablo 2 right on the edge there at the year 2000, also a good game.
I just feel like the Super Nintendo (and the Genesis too, to a lesser extent) had some of the most fun and well designed games ever made. I will admit that the ability for cutscenes and storyline was not as high at the time (although God, look at Final Fantasy 6 and Chrono Trigger, those beauties!), and graphics were not as high definition, but in addition to being more "simple" they were just designed so well. Games today sometimes look quite pretty, until the graphics glitch and you see someones teeth from the inside of their head... or you realize that the game is just simply not very fun to play.
Oh yeah, and DINK CAME OUT at that time. Absolutely loved Dink to death as a kid (ok, I admit it, I still do), I'm so glad my dad found it and downloaded it or I would probably have never played it before.

Of course I forgot to mention Dink
started playing that....2002-3ish? Don't really remember but I was young, and it was such a simple game that I loved it back then. And on and off over the years as well.
Games back in the day were indeed simpler but they were fine like that. They definitely had a high quality to them, which is why classic Mario and Sonic games are still played to this day. They are amazing.
I'd rant about Halo and Call of Duty, but I really don't want to. I'm just gonna say I hate both of those franchises with passion.

The biggest problem within recent reasons is without a shadow of a doubt DRM especially how EA does it I also read that Red Alert 3 only has a limited amount of installs about 2 or 3 thank god I didn't buy that piece of sh!t game.

As long as the game is enjoyable, I could care less.
I loved the Snes because it had lots of awesome games; Nes, because it brought about a lot of classics; The Xbox because there are a lot of good games for it; the PS2 for the same reason; the 360 because it has some of my favorite games like Nier and Lost Odyssey.

What DRM? well DRM makes the game less enjoyable.

As I said, as long as I enjoy it, it doesn't matter. So drop the subject of DRM. We all hate it, and we don't want to discuss how bad an idea it is.
Trust with DRM as bad as it is today YOU WILL NOT ENJOY IT.
I'd say my favourite years in gaming and otherwise too, was probably the 90s. Not gonna deny that the 80s and the early 2000s had some awesome gaming stuff, as well.
Who here has played Shadow of the Colossus? Is is now one of my favorite games, and the soundtrack is just awesome.
All the eras are great, but I got a love for the 90's and early 2000's.
Shadow of the Colossus is great. I haven't taken down all the enemies yet though.
