Has anyone here seen it yet? If so, what did you think about it? I was rather excited to see how well they'd handle it, and I can't say I was extremely disappointed (definitely better than that Friday the 13th remake, from a few years back). I thought it was a pretty interesting take on the classic horror film (it was more like a sequel, actually). And there was a big twist in the end, which was handled... decently, I guess. It could've been better, but it could also have been much worse. If you're looking for a horror movie with a much more interesting and thought-out storyline than in your usual slasher films, and don't mind very unrealistic twists, then I'd suggest check this out.

Horror movies to me all seem pretty mindless. Like the story itself is dedicated to that genre, rather than having something that could be seen in multiple genres. I don't really like anything that purposefully limits itself to a single thing.

That's where I think this movie was better than most of its genre. Not by much, I must say, but it's always nice to see at least a bit of something added. Sure, lot of the story in this movie was set up just to show off gore and horror, but there were interesting story and character twists which could have as easily been left out. I think it's up to the viewer to decide whether these twists made the movie stupid or better, but in my opinion it deserves praise for actually trying to step out of the recent slasher "comfort zone", which seems to consist of very one-dimensional characters, no storyline and just blood and guts.

It really depends on the movie. Alien was a great horror movie that still scares me on occasion. Halloween (the earlier ones) is a great one because of how it's pretty much the codifier of the slasher flick. More recent ones with lots of gorn are just... no.

I like all sorts of movies, if they're done well. This one definitely had gore, but not as much as I expected, considering they were trying to show off the 3D. I went in with very low expectations, but as I said, it positively surprised me. Liked that it actually had a storyline, and that it wasn't just about a plain evil, unbeatable murderer. The early scenes also had very awesome throwbacks to the original '74 film, that'll surely spark some nostalgia to those who saw it back then. Have to say it turned out to probably be my favourite Lionsgate horror film thus far.

I have warm and fuzzy feelings about disemboweling imps and Hell Knights.
