That's where I think this movie was better than most of its genre. Not by much, I must say, but it's always nice to see at least a bit of something added. Sure, lot of the story in this movie was set up just to show off gore and horror, but there were interesting story and character twists which could have as easily been left out. I think it's up to the viewer to decide whether these twists made the movie stupid or better, but in my opinion it deserves praise for actually trying to step out of the recent slasher "comfort zone", which seems to consist of very one-dimensional characters, no storyline and just blood and guts.
