Disney closes Lucasarts
Worst gaming news in a while, IMO. Joystiq story
They've churned out little but turgid rubbish for years. A sad day for the individuals, yes, and it's sad to see what many would see as an institution evaporate, but as a developer they were rot.
This much is true. Other than a few odds and ends - most notably for me, the MI1 and 2 revamps and Tales of Monkey Island - they weren't really worth paying attention to over the last decade or so. But this move doesn't instill much confidence that they'll do anything noteworthy with their brands outside of Star Wars.
I wonder just how much money they would ask for the adventure franchises...

I imagine they could be convinced to sell them off.
Disney bought Lucas so they could make big bucks on Star Wars merchandise. I doubt they have much love for "small" gaming IPs.

Yeah, it's not the biggest of deals. Star Wars 1313 and First Assault has probably been canceled. :/
I now realize that I'm not that old... I really don't have any specific memories of LucasArts games. Maybe the fact that I haven't played all that many adventure games is to blame...
The adventure games were amazing. Even when playing them now they still measure up to (and exceed...) most titles released in recent years.
The rest that they made was meh :/
