Just as some are starting to get worried about the lack of recent files, Christiaan comes and saves the day!

Christiaan's Ultimate MIDI Oeuvre is a collection of 28 of his best MIDIs composed over the last 10 years.

Enjoy!

Awesome Christiaan! I'll let you know what I think after I've had time to listen to them all.

Interesting. Seems like it includes both Dramatic.mid and Futuristic.mid which were originally created for The Dark Phoenix's Middle Night. Honestly, the fact how awesome Christiaan made those MIDIs is the only thing that makes me want to complete the D-Mod.

Sweetness, and mostly stuff I haven't heard before. I'm sure these will have no trouble finding good homes.

Do these sound right on Windows 7? I tried listening to the midis again after reading TNG's review and I noticed the 20 second silence at the beginning of 9. Metal Boss Theme 1 that the review mentioned, but I could swear I didn't notice anything like that when I listened to these earlier on my old Windows XP comp.

Maybe all the instruments aren't being rendered correctly (or whatever you call that in midi maker lingo) or something? I might also just be confused.

You feed the madness, and it feeds on you.
It probably is a problem with the Windows seven midi output.. the default Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth and SoundFont(sf2) file that windows seven comes with makes midi's sound like crap.. you can't change it through windows either.

Fix - make midis sound a lot better in windows seven.
To change it you need to search for a software by the name of 'CoolSoft's VirtualMIDISyth'.
VirtualMIDISynth

EDIT: That's just the software that allows you to change your MIDI output device and soundfont, you still need a better soundfont to change it to, other than the default windows seven soundfont. I recommend 'Arachno'. It's about 136mb, but it increases the quality of midi's a lot, also adds more instruments which of course makes midi playback sound a lot better.
Archno Soundfont (Scroll down about halfway down the page and look for the "plain SF2 decompressed format link")

After installing VirtualMidiSynth, open it and go to the 'MIDI Mapper' tab and change the default midi output device from 'Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth' to 'CoolSoft's VirtualMIDISyth'. Then download Arachno, which will be a single file named something like this: Arachno SoundFont - Version 1.0.sf2. Inside VirtualMIDISynth go to the 'SoundFonts' tab, click the add button(the green plus sign), and navigate to the Arachno.sf2 file, click apply and ok. Close VirtualMIDISynth
Done

For reference, my system is a Windows XP, so I doubt that the silence is caused by Windows 7. Crappy sound rendering, on the other hand, very well could be caused by Windows 7.

Confirmed back on my Windows XP computer, there's supposed to be a sort of ambient build-up in there before the actual tune begins. It IS also quite silent though, I actually missed it on my speakers... It's much clearer if you're wearing headphones, though ramping up the volume works too.

Wow, you're right. But it's so quiet that I had to turn my speakers up very loud just to hear it. That build up needs to be like three or four times louder. I can't imagine too many people playing Dink with their speakers up loud enough to actually hear it at the volume it's at!

Edit: @Christiaan: I may use a few of these for my future DMOD, however, I'm going to be writing some mp3's for it. So would it be ok if I modify some of the midis in this pack into mp3 for use in my DMOD? I want the player to choose between all midi (vanilla download) and all mp3 (downloading the mp3 pack). I don't really want to have mp3s with midi's dispersed throughout if the player downloads the mp3 pack.

Thenewguy: yes, do it! I'd love to hear what you would do with the midis. In fact I'm going to modify some midis into MP3s myself as well the coming months as I'm just now learning to work with Cubase.
