Indian Couple Arrested In Norway For Child Abuse
They got arrested for child abuse. Actually, it's not really an Indian definition of child abuse... What are your thoughts on it? I'm posting it here because this place has a lot of Norwegians. I need your views for a school project...

When in Norway, do as the Norwegians do. Europeans find beating and burning (with or without a hot metal object) your children utterly appalling, so I doubt there's much sympathy for the couple.

geesh what do u have to do to maim them bad enough for you to call it child abuse there - remove limbs! I would never let those kids go back to those people - parents are supposed to protect their kids, not do that stuff. Thats not just physical, it messes with their heads too - it will change who the child will grow to be - mental abuse imho is way worse than physical. For those that dont know - a childs brain develops differently if they are being abused or seeing abuse happen to others, so remove them from harms way and put the parents in jail for a very long time. Poor defenceless kids grrr mutter mutter RANT RANT .....

Actually, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they are allowed to cut off people's arms over there, aren't they? Like, for stealing or something?
Beating a child in a way that won't really scar them is all right if they deserve it, but burning and beating with a belt is going too far.
Also, cutting off a person's hand for stealing IS a Muslim law (which is a good law if you look at it as a deterrent) but very few Muslim countries actually cut off hands for stealing and anyway, India is a dominantly Hindu country and I doubt a child steals anything valuable enough to be classified as 'cut-off-hand-worthy'.

Can u hit a child when you aren't angry at them ? If u can, well go ahead and belt your kid, if u cant - then why do it when you are angry - you are just teaching them violence is ok if u are mad and out of control...

I didn't really read the article. I planned to read it after I got your replies. I don't know what they did exactly... All I got from my friend was the thing about the belt...
Burning is too much. But, I guess those are common practices for certain Indians...
I've never really been "beaten" for example, all I got were light pinches...
EDIT:
I'm NOT defending them in any way. I actually agree with the Norwegian government's decision... I was just stating a fact when I said "not really an Indian definition". I also have no intention of using corporal punishment on my children(when I have them). In fact, the article I'm writing is about how we should learn from Europeans in this matter...
