I have been attempting to install WinDinkedit Plus 2 on my Ubuntu running laptop; however, I keep getting the message: "The Dink installation folder could not be found". The only reason I'm trying to install WDePlus2 in the first place is because I can't seem to figure out how to save my changes in freedinkedit. I type "q" but it just simply quits. My immediate changes are not saved when leaving a screen. I don't know how to create a new blank d-mod either...and I cannot seem to find any sort of manual or instruction/tutorial etc. for freedinkedit. It looks like WDe would be great except I can't get past step 2. install.

LOOK UPON MY DEFORMED FACE!
Funnily enough it's a windows program. Notice how it's called WinDinkEdit? It's not going to install.

That's weird. There's no specific save feature in (Free)DinkEdit, it should save the screen automatically at this point.

Perhaps some kind of file access problem? I.E. the editor can't modify the dink.dat and map.dat files for some reason? (These are located in the directory of the dmod you're trying to edit, e.g. FreeDink\dink\ for the original game)

Normally I would blame Windows Vista, but that may not be applicable in this case.

You can try the other versions
http://www.dinknetwork.com/file/windinkedit/
http://www.dinknetwork.com/file/windinkedit_plus/
But I don't think anyone has gotten WinDinkedit to work through Wine.

If FreeDink is not saving I'd imagine you are editing a DMOD not in the home folder. You can download a skeleton DMOD [search for it] for a blank DMOD and put it in the home folder

"Normally I would blame Windows Vista"

Go ahead and blame it anyway, no one'll mind

Thanks, it worked! And yes, I was trying to use wine.
