Two Animated Movies
1999 - The Iron Giant was released. It really felt like a lot of effort and heart was put into the production of this. The characters are all likable, whether they are a protagonist or antagonist, the story is amazingly good, and the atmosphere really sucks you in. I'll admit, it's probably the only movie that ever got me very teary eyed. I won't spoil the ending, but I'll just say... It's a great twist to what you think happened.
2011 - Mars Needs Moms comes out. 10 or so minutes in and I couldn't watch anymore. I felt highly manipulated right from the start. It stars Seth Green as a kid called Milo who wishes that he didn't have a mom. *coff*HomeAlone*coff. So the martians decide to take his mom away! I felt manipulated by this because it sounds like it's trying to say "if you don't like your mom, you will have to traverse the wastelands of mars to get her back, so worship your mom daily!" I saw the credits of the movie. Yeah, a while back, I walked into the other room and the movie was just wrapping up. I had the misfortune of seeing how the movie was created during the credits. Who the hell thought it would be a good idea to blow all their money on machines to create CG images from a real actor's movements?! Also, I really can't take this seriously when Milo, who's like 10 or under looks exactly like Seth Green himself. Ugh...pass.
Where have the standards gone? I watched such an amazing movie as The Iron Giant, and then suddenly found myself watching utter crap. Come on, cinema, give us what we used to get; Soul in a picture. Not money in a picture.

Who was that cool guy from the Iron Giant, the one with the coffee mug?
Up was pretty good, if you're going on animations.
The Iron Giant was great, but you're comparing your favourite animation of all time to the worst animation of 2011. A more apt comparison would probably be something like Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein (haven't actually seen that one, sure as hell don't want to ).
It wasn't that I was unfairly comparing two movies that are completely different, I was just comparing the two because one, I saw them both back to back, and two, because most animated movies nowadays are like Mars Needs Moms.
Yes, Up was pretty decent.
@Kerrek: The guy with the coffee mug was Dean. He's awesome.

I liked Iron Giant too. I also liked Shrek, Kunfu Panda, Up, Megamind and Cloudy with a chance of meatballs too.
I did also see Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and was actually surprised that is wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I mean, with a title like that, you'd think it was going to be horrible, right?
I saw tiny bits of Rango at a party last year and couldn't really see it. (Bad eyesight+ no glasses +distance). But what I saw was really too silly to be taken very seriously. I *might* actually see it at one point if I'm really bored.

Iron Giant? (Nostalgiagasm)
Man, I wish I still had that movie! Then I could teach my little brother a thing or two about good movies!
I've seen Shrek and it was pretty good, until the overdid it with two and three. 'Ever After' was pretty good for being the sequel to the third one, as it had a pretty solid storyline and everything just flowed pretty well together.
I liked Toy Story one and two as a kid, but the third one kinda ruined it for me.
Up was one of the better movies I've seen, as well as How to Train your Dragon. I saw that in 3D and it was mind blowing. (Seriously, it is one of those movies where it being 3D actually makes it look better. The flying scene was simply mind blowing.)
Spirited Away is one of the best animated movies I've ever seen. If you haven't seen it, find it and watch it!

Anyone seen Final Fantasy: Advent children?
Never beat the game, so didn't care to.
I still own Iron Giant. One of my favorite animated movies as a kid was "The Fox and the Hound" though.
Never beat the game because I lost it before I could beat it.
The Pagemaster, anyone?
And the Land before time series was also a fav.

My friend Damien told me about The Pagemaster. We never did watch it on Netflix.
I watched the Nostalgia Critic's review of Pagemaster. Then long after, I saw a tiny bit of it. I didn't think much of it, especially cause I was very inclined to quote the review.
No, it was rather bad what I saw of it.

The pagemaster was a great childrens movie, not so good for adults.
Compare more wisely next time.
Mars Needs Mom sounds a lot like the Jimmy Neutron movie as well as home alone. In JN the kids wish they didn't have parents so...aliens come and...take them. >_>
P.S - Jimmy Neutron rocks.

"Anyone seen Final Fantasy: Advent children?"
Me, didn't think much of it though. Probably cos I've never played any of the games and didn't have a clue what was going on
Final Fantasy: Spirits Within, on the other hand, was great.
