The Dark Lord of the DN.
1999 - The Iron Giant was released. It really felt like a lot of effort and heart was put into the production of this. The characters are all likable, whether they are a protagonist or antagonist, the story is amazingly good, and the atmosphere really sucks you in. I'll admit, it's probably the only movie that ever got me very teary eyed. I won't spoil the ending, but I'll just say... It's a great twist to what you think happened.

2011 - Mars Needs Moms comes out. 10 or so minutes in and I couldn't watch anymore. I felt highly manipulated right from the start. It stars Seth Green as a kid called Milo who wishes that he didn't have a mom. *coff*HomeAlone*coff. So the martians decide to take his mom away! I felt manipulated by this because it sounds like it's trying to say "if you don't like your mom, you will have to traverse the wastelands of mars to get her back, so worship your mom daily!" I saw the credits of the movie. Yeah, a while back, I walked into the other room and the movie was just wrapping up. I had the misfortune of seeing how the movie was created during the credits. Who the hell thought it would be a good idea to blow all their money on machines to create CG images from a real actor's movements?! Also, I really can't take this seriously when Milo, who's like 10 or under looks exactly like Seth Green himself. Ugh...pass.

Where have the standards gone? I watched such an amazing movie as The Iron Giant, and then suddenly found myself watching utter crap. Come on, cinema, give us what we used to get; Soul in a picture. Not money in a picture.
