Ok, so I saw Sabretrout's reply to "Old Snes games" about how he likes Xbox, and was going to type up a reply there, but then I decided to start a new thread because I'm really bored.

So, like the topic says: What is your favorite videogame console of all time (from the Ataris to the Commodore 64 to the modern day Xbox and Gamecube), and why?

I borrowed my best friend's N64 for about six months last year... I really enjoyed that. Ocarina of Time is probably my favorite game on any platform (well, it's a tie between that and Twinsen's Odyssey, I guess). And Gamecubes are cute! And I enjoy Metroid Prime and Wind Waker. But I think my favorite is currently the PS2. I only have 4 games (two of them PSOne games) but one of those games is Final Fantasy X, which I loved (and am now looking to get more Final Fantasy games), and another is Dance Dance Revolution: Konamix, which is amazingly fun for something that requires me to get off my lazy ass and move. I also love the PS2 controllers. Probably the most functional, yet easy to use controller I've ever played with.

So which vidgame console do you guys favor?

Second Place, PS2 : Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance, Silent Hill 2&3, Onimusha, Vice City, Devil May Cry, Soul Reaver 2, Zone of the Enders 1&2, Xenosaga, .Hack, FFX, Kingdom Hearts, ...

Well, I guess my favourite console of all time has to be the Sega MegaDrive (Genesis). When I got that for Christmas, along with Sonics 1 and 2, it was the best year ever!
It had so many great games : Sonic, Toe Jam and Earl, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Rocket Knight Adventures, Gunstar Heroes...it was the best.
More recently, I like X-Box marginally more than Gamecube, and despise the black evil that is the PS2...uhh.

i dont really like the newer consoles... i like the old snes and genesis, cause they were the begginnings of gaming, had better stories that were much simpler to understand *!*, and they had games that you would regret to forget...

Nah, beginning of home gaming was the ZX Specttrum, with it's wonderful rubber keyboard.

I do love my PS2. I really do. *heh* But I must say I like PSOne better. Not for it's graphics and effects and speed and that technical mumbo-jumbo, but cause I think that (so far) the total of better games were on the PSOne. Ok, sure, PS2 has had it's glamourous points, like Metal Gear Solid 2, Grand Theft Auto 3 (and possibly Vice City), Final Fantasy X.. and the continuation of the Tekken series.. but PSOne had a lot more games that I've enjoyed.. but you never know.. maybe a lot more and better PS2 games will come in the near future..

Oh, and just to mention, like some others in this thread. No stories in newer games beat the stories in the old games on SNES, Sega, NES and the like (except maybe Final Fantasy 7, which is a totally magnificent piece of ART). Which is why I also love these old consoles.

And since somebody may have become confused of my ramble, main point is, PSOne is best, PS2 is a good second, all the old consoles, like NES, SNES and Sega had the best stories. Yah.

I don't like the X-box, the games arent much fun for me (rpg all the way!!) and the controllers are large and clunkey but the psone/2 are the best ever(ffx, kingdom hearts,FFT,FF7, the list go's on.I also think the snes is one of the best(a.k.a.super famicon).
One more thing, Final Fantasy Tactics is by far my favorite game of all time(mwah, I'll summon titan on your heads!!)

Daniel, there are clowns.
SNES all the way. Can't really say why, maybe it's because I played it so much and I had so many really memorable moments with it. I was continually impressed with how the games used by it evolved graphically.

I was sort of "growing out" of consoles by the time the N64 and PS1 came out, since I now had a computer and found PC games to be generally superior to their more limited console cousins. Aside from FF7, I never really cared much for post-Nintendo Square, but seem people to love that stuff. *shrug*

I'm a man, but I can change, if I have to.I guess.
NES with the ORIGINAL Dragon warrior stomps em all.
The first metroid for nes, I think that what it is, was also great, as it had an increadable amount of secret and unfinished areas. There was like 4 areas secret to one normal area, and you had to be carefull, as you could usually get stuck in these areas, or it might take you hours, litteraly, to get out.

Oh, yea, and how can one forget Duckhunt? I wanted to kill that dog at times....

Ah, Metroid for Nes, those pits really were incredibly cruel and the metroids were really scary But you could enter this JUSTIN BAILEY code and Samus would have a cool weapon and no suit o, or something , which was really cool.

Best console is Gamecube, cause it has Smash Brothers Melee and soon Mario Kart Double Dash, with 8 player mode (by connecting two GC's though) .. Anyway, 4-player Nintendo has always been the best

Mario Party on the N64!

Mmm... and Super Smash Brothers Melee's not too bad, either.

My favorite console for the moment is the PS2. I also have a PSOne which was my precious baby before the PS2 and I still play a lot of games on it. I also still play SNES games.

My favorite game of all time must be FF7. Never has a game drawn me in as much as FF7 did. Plus, it was my very first RPG and the first time I truly came in touch with Japanese stylish games. In the meanwhile, I've gotten addicted to these kind of RPGs. Some of the more great ones include Kingdom Hearts and FFX, but the very best RPG on the PS2 is BY FAR Xenosaga Episode I : Der Wille Zur Macht. If I were to ever make a game (which is my ultimate goal) I'd make it like Xenosaga. It has the most intricate story ever (even more complicated and mysterious than FF7) characters you truly care for, music by Yasunori Mitsuda (of Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Xenogears, ... fame), excellent graphics and most importantly a whole lot of cutscenes. And I'm not talking about broing "talk" cutscenes either, these are action packed state of the art movie scenes. And for those of you who hate random battles, rejoice, there are no random battles in Xenosaga, only enemies you can see on the map and can avoid if necessary.

My conclusion, we all love FF7, it rules. Now move on to Xenosaga and I promise you won't be disappointed!

I am meaning to get a PS2 but I just don't have the money right now...though I do have my little psone, and I think its a bit superior to the PS2 in some ways,by that I mean it has faster load time on most of the music and games(having to wait a while really gets on my nerves). And as kyle said, we all love FF7, and you should try Xenosaga.
