AU-486 AKA The abortion pill for those who didn't know.

I wanted to get peoples opinions on this subject, are you pro/anti abortion and why? Please, no fights, just voice your opinion and ignore all others, I don't want to have to start deleting and locking things.

Why has this popped up? I was seeing a girl, still a very good friend, and we did the naughty naughty. She is convinced that she is pregnant when it isn't even time for her period, and with the protection we used there is no way in hell it is possible. But I started thinking, I have no problem against it, but she does, and I was just wanting another opinion. Speak out.

Killeng babies is murder, treminating a fetus is not. When does a fetus become a baby ? I think at 5 weeks when the heart starts to beat, but I know I cannot speak for anyone eles. I guess you just have to seach your own soul for that.
On the other side of the coin, a friend of mine is aching to have kids, but can't. Hearing about something like that almost makes him and his wife cry.;(

I am pro-choice, meaning I beleive it is up to the woman to make the choice. But for me personally?? No. I experienced 2 miscarriages, as well as having 2 daughters, and I still wonder about the lost baby's.

I'm totally with you, Kat. I think that women should have the choice to decide what they want to do with a child. It's her body, it's her decision. However, personally, I wouldn't get an abortion. I just don't think it's the right choice for me, but if someone else does it, I'll respect that.

correction: It seems I have upset binirit and provably others as well, so let me restate what I meant more clearly:

On a purely medical note, a baby has three basic stages of development:

1. Until 40 days (not four months as I wrongly wrote earlier) after conception, an embryo is still considered not "alive"

2. From 40 days after conception, until the baby is born, it is alive but not human. I said before: "abortion should be permitted only if there is a direct threat to the life of the mother." let me clarify this. If a woman was raped and was in danger of an emotional "death" because of the child, there wouldn't be a problem with abortion. I mentioned later: "it is like an animal and the same moral laws apply." If there was an animal with the power to emotionally destroy a person and it had latched onto a person, this would be a "direct threat to the [emotional] life of the mother" and could be dealt with accordingly.

3. When a baby is born it acquires the same human status as it's mother and the rights of all humans.

Sorry if this still offends anybody.

I always wonder what those who made up all those rules would do if they were... let's say raped and pregnant of it and only 14. I bet they would switch opinions rapidly.
It's very easy to decide something for someone else.

i am pro-choice. i believe in my choice to get a shotgun and blast the faces off of six year old kids out on the sidewalk.

seriously, the "womans choice" thing is bullshoot.

i think logically if you have sex you need know what yer doing. sex is for reproduction. sex makes new people. it is something that you cant analyze. you cant say whether when the baby is alive, or to what degree "alive" is, or what is acceptable as human life as opposed to animal or plant life. you cant explain it. you can decide for yourself what is right and wrong but just the same that you can decide that murder/drugs/mass fudgein genicide is right and wrong. i could decide that punching all of the teeth out of your mouth is right. are you sure you wanna give me that choice?

in my book, abortion is wrong. keep the horse in the barn if your too stupid to have a normal child. you are unresponsible and you have no respect for yourself or your life. you should be aborted.

but how this pill works i do not know. im saying if you have partial birth abortion. most people dont know the truth about this procedure, they just support it cause its the cool "liberal" thing to do.

as for rape... two wrongs dont make a right. i hope to god in that situation i would have the strength and dignity to have that child and put it up for adoption.

face reality.

is this supposed to be "are you for-86" or is it really au-486 or a typing error? should it not be RU-4-AU-486 or something?

Don't legalize murder! That would be wrong. However, legalizing "abrubtly moving somebody from this hell-hole into a blissful place...possibly through the use of a shotgun" sounds fine to me.

As for whether abortions are fine...it has to be left to the individual I guess, but I expect that it comes back to haunt those who do have a termination.
