So who here likes board games?
I has Monopoly, chess (two sets, one glass and one ... wood, I guess), Ludo and scrabble. Of these, my favorite is ... Monopoly and chess, I guess. Tie, you can call it. Not the one you bind around your neck, though. You'd never get anything done with two boards hanging around your neck.
So, I decided to study it scientifically and found an astonishing but simple little truth.
Board games can improve your grades. Well, grades for me ... I dunno, work productivity for the rest of y'all I reckon?
So, what do you think? Do board games have an effect like the one I found? Are they too boring? Or you don't have time for them? (I don't, this year )

I think it's strategy games that make you smarter.

You mean ... like Valkyria Chronicles? YES YES YES!
Really though, that game was one of the best (I'm talking about Valkyria Chronicles 2 here) on the PSP and I spent more than 60 hours playing it (and still do now, when I get the time.) I played it and my grades quickly improved, so it MIGHT have been the reason
And Age of Empires too

Yep,all strategy games.But shooter's and action games make us dumber.

Maybe they make you smarter at shooting.

I'll play pretty much anything. I hated mousetrap though, that never ended.

Hahaha, mousetrap. We usually played that until the machine was finished, and then until the first mouse was caught, I don't think I've ever sat through an entire game

Lately, I've been into Dominion, and I really want to play Arkham Horror again, but it takes a while to set up and learn, and not many people are patient enough for that.

I hate Monopoly with a passion.

Yep catans great, so is boggle, scrabble and pin-the-banana bra-on-the-naked-tal.

Yeah, it takes long as hell, but it's good fun.

As a kid I used to love (The Amazing) Labyrinth. Seriously, I played it constantly. It was worse than drugs.

Nowadays I enjoy sometimes playing the basic board games such as Kimble and Afrikan tähti, but only if I manage to get enough people to play them. And the top game is, of course, Chess, "the immortal game".

Haven't really played much board games in a long while, but I'd go with chess if I had to chose on the spot.

I agree, Monopoly is the game of Satan. You play it without pause for several days, and when it finally ends, everyone loses for having wasted so much time.

Does anybody play Go? I've wanted to learn it for ages but haven't gotten around to it. Also Thud might be fun.
