I don't mean this as an attention seeking thread, as this kind of thing so often seems to be, so if you think that's what it is just ignore it and leave me to stew in my puddle of ego. No need to chip in with your jibes. Though, actually, it is somewhat attention seeking. I don't care. I am ego.

I'm fed up, frankly. Maybe this is a symptom of age catching up with me and I've become a bitter old fish, but I have little interest in conversing with the majority of people on here at this time. Nor do I maintain much interest in module creation, the whole process feeling rather stale and unrewarding. There are a number of you that I've known - impersonally, of course - for years now and I have a great deal of respect for a number of members. I'd hope you know who you are.

I'm just sick of it all. The lack of input from some staff members at this moment in time can be put down to two things. One is, as ever, laziness, but the other is the lack of respect from the community. I'm fed up of coming on here to see someone moaning about Scratcher, or Christiaan, or Tal. Or me.

I'll be back. I'm not leaving forever. But I'm going to delete my bookmark and have an extended holiday from bananas and dead dragon carcass worshiping. I just feel disillusioned. Every time I log on there are people flaming/spamming indiscriminately, and people bumping the worst threads to the top of the forum and keeping them there.

I am working on a D-Mod and an addon at the moment, but I won't hype them because every file I hype gets cancelled.

The problem you mention here, is an eternal cycle.

The lact of respect comes to the staff, for them not deserving any respect. Let's face it, they really haven't done that much of anything recently. This causes the staff to do even less, cause they feel like they don't get enough respect, and then they get even less respect.

You're part of the staff, meaning you have more power than most people here, so you have the chance to actually do something about things.

Another thing. Despite how you feel, you ARE a respected member in here. Maybe instead of moaning how bad things are around here, which I get, I have been doing also, how about instead you inspire people to change their attitude. With the respect people have for you, it could very well work. These kinda posts only make people more desperate and make this place even less enjoyable. So instead try to inspire others.

What we need to understand, is that instead of going around blaming certain people, we all need to take a look in the mirror. Because that's where the true reason to this site's downfall is. In us all.

If you feel like going, go. That's what the whole staff has been doing recently; running from their duties. And that is what causes the lack of respect. I have always respected you, Sabre, but if you go now, that respect may be lost for good, as it has pretty much for the whole staff already.

Noooooo Sabre I don't want to see you go! We need a bastion of sanity to counter all the mindless zombies spewing their bile!

I understand where you're coming from though. At this rate even my interest is waning. In truth though I think the forum has always had a negative darker side to it, but there were plenty of members who were productive and contributed in a positive way that it went unnoticed for so many years. But with production activity having dropped into the bowels of hell, so has that positive force that held the negativity at bay.

The lack of features to do something about it all is also a contributing factor I believe and I wish Redink1 would swoop down on his mighty dragon and say: "I'm back and you don't want to be on the receiving end of my dragon's flame breath lest you be turned to a carcass yourself!". But unfortunately that is probably not going to happen

Thats like a catch 22, here I have a file (my new character) I would like to upload but I am feeling - why should I bother - it will be flamed and spammed out of existance and I worked hard on it so would be pretty annoyed. Maybe thats why (possibly) other productivity has dropped off as well... vicious circle

You know, I'm kind of feeling the same. I keep coming back to check if there's any interesting posts, but even the ones that seem interesting will have people arguing about completely unrelated things. It gives this place a tension that shouldn't be here.

I don't think I ever really talked to you. But I had respect for you, because you put a lot of work into your dmods. And you just have that iconic figure to you, that everyone looks up to. So if you must leave, do so, if you don't leave and try to solve these problems and make things happy-go-lucky again, I'd probably have a lot more respect for you.

I've gotten a bit bored too. I used to read everything, but now I just look at the thread titles and disregard most of them. Also I've been kind of busy with other things lately. I'm not leaving though. I have some ideas of things to contribute, but I can't really fit them into my priorities right now. Hopefully later.

Thanks, Predator. Yes, I made 3 and they were all abysmal, but I've been reading lots of tutorials and working etc. I haven't wasted these past 2 years.

I am actually somewhat looking forward to seeing the evolution in DD's d-mods. You weren't there when the very first d-mods were released, but from that point onward up till now, the evolution that has happened in between is astounding.

I think it's rather silly people complain about the lack of contributions. Of course there aren't contributions when people don't contribute anything, so as I said, instead of moaning about it day after day, maybe contribute something?

Nope, haven't deserted you, just been occupied trying to better my world outside of the DN as well. Between trying to find a new job and better my relationship or spending all my time campaigning against people, what should I do? Yeah.

The mods here are entitled to their own lives, but it's a shame when they don't live up to their' duty of care. People tend to step down during crisis that are too much for them, ie: when they get too old.
