Post who you think are your top ten Dinkers of all time!

I'd go with:

-Mike "Wyndo" Snyder - The godfather of D-Mods.
-Dan Walma "redink1" - C'mon, you know why.
-Gary Hertel - He proved it was possible to make an Epic D-Mod.
-Paul - He created some of the most unorthodox D-Mods.
-WC - The legendary n00b pwner and secondary webmaster.
-Tal - TDN's pervert.
-OkalyDDude - Because I like penguins.
-Jveenhof - Was such a hardcore Dinker even Death couldn't stop him.
-Simon Klaebe - He created the highest rated D-Mod and invented Tomorrow.
-SabreTrout - I like the guy. No homo.

Two others I'd have picked would've probably been:
-Jamie aka I forgot all his other usernames - N00b legend and WC's hated rival.
-Kory - BOMB IRAQ! Peace!
-Dukie (out of request)

So, who would you pick as the top ten Dinkers of all time and why?

Yeah, I was thinking about Dukie, but I said I was only gonna put 10, and didn't wanna go much over that. I was thinking which of OkalyDDude or Dukie should I choose, but in the end I decided to go with ODD cause, well, penguins!

And speaking of legends, MsDink is like the new allikitten of the forum, except way more annoying.

Let us save our effort and just lie down and die.
Dudicons in no particular order:

Robj: He has really put life and passion into TDN since being here - some might say he rivals SimonK
IPD: This guy shares the "life and passion & SimonK killer seat" with Robj. His productions have been, to date, exceptional.
Skull: For his general cynicism and pissery
Absolution: This guy is just himself. He has balls. I like balls in a guy... ahem...
Magicman: Mind behind the Dink-meets and general nice bloke
Striker: What can I say? He has a certain aura...
Redink1: C'mon - this guy is the muscle behind TDN
Seth: Cool guy, made this ol' RPG game I play, and you can mod it a fair bit.
MsDink: A rare type Pokemon with a lovely personality and deadly attack.
Bornfree: bornfree15 is cool. Say after me: bornfree15 is cool. bornfree15 is cool. bornfree15 is cool. Right, well she's a lovely lass, and she must have an iron stomach to last in here.

I can't say top 10 of all time, coz I have chronic short-term memory loss, but in the last 3 years, yeah. All complaints and queries should be forwarded to "trashez@dogpile.com". Compliments and financial donations - PM me now, for your' chance to win!!

Yes, Robj has indeed done quite a lot for the community as well and deserves a spot in the legends list

Now, go create more tutorials!

Haha, thanks!

You guys really posted some names I wouldn't really count as legends. Oh well, shoulda guessed not many newBs know the old folks.

Yeah, Robj's been a pretty active Dinker but I don't think he's quite yet at the level to be considered a legend. Maybe in a few years, if he gets his D-Mods and some more Dinkish stuff out.

Hmm..

Beuc: He has done so much for this community but I feel he still haven't got the appreciation he deserves.

SimonK: Obviously. He's done some of the longest dmods, and is really the only one who has done decent graphics in a big scale for his dmods, making them unique

Someone: One thinking outside the box, and stretching the limits of DinkC

I'd like to mention a lot more dinkers but I'm too lazy right now...

Oh btw, shnapper, thanks for mentioning me!

The old ones are already legends in their own rite, for additions to the originals;

I would think Someone was a definate candidate - as IPD says hes encouraged us all to think outside the box and I add that he has an amazing knowledge of how dinkc works and is so prepared to assist anyone with that.

I am adding Sparrowhawk as well, hes done a lot here and is consistent and has added some pretty decent files, um..

Rabidwolf9 - this guy is a machine - have you lot not seen the awesome files he pumped out, again ever eager to help others.

Metatarasal - Although he has created some pretty good dmods, one file lifted him into the spotlight, it has been so useful to others for such a period of time that for me it makes him a legend (especially the time it took him to create that file - that is just hilarious)

Gotta add schnapper in here - his humor is what kept me coming back here originally, until I eventually made an account - schnapps you really are a legend, you crack me up so much - dont even lose that humor ok - things like that keep the community chugging along I think

Dink is my man though - hes the real legend here, who else can keep a community alive 10+ years when all the other games superceede you with techniques and graphics, all sorts of bells and whistles and stuff yet ole dinky - well all he does is mosey along through it all. Yay Seth for the insight of including an add on ability. I recon he will be here after everyone else is gone.

As to community legends, well I do think there are other up and coming ones ... but mostly - they still have their training wheels on at this stage heh

My picks for the most important and influential Dinkers in the history of Dink:

1) Redink1 - Dink Network, many quality files, v1.08, and generally keeping Dink alive.
2) Wyndo - Before my time but the first DMODer and apparently even coined the term "d-mod"!
3) Nexus (Gary Hertel) - The first DMOD that bested the original game (PotA), WinDinkedit.
4) SimonK - The greatest DMOD author ever.
5) Beuc - FreeDink.

There's of course many, many other Dinkers who have contributed and advanced our little community. My newbie picks are Robj and Iplaydink, but that's more of a reflection of the sort of files I find interesting.

Bill Szczytko is one important Dinker who hasn't been mentioned yet. He was only part of the community for a very short time, but produced two quality epic DMODs (Quest for Dorithia 1 and 2). I think this was somewhere between PotA and SimonK, a period where simply completing the monumental task of producing an epic DMOD automatically made you a Dink giant. (Of course, when SimonK came along he made everyone look small in comparison, and expectations for the quality of DMODs greatly increased.)

Legends of the community?

Paul Pliska, Dan Walma, Simon Klaebe, Tal, Dukie, Jveenhof, Striker, Wesley McElwee, Gary Hertel, Beuc... and more. Too many to count! There really have been a lot of fantastic contributors to this site over the years.

YEah I forgot to mention Dan Walma... but I think you really don't need to, his spot on the list is so obvious, he is like Dink Smallwoods step-dad picking up where Seth left it.

Hungry, Horney, and Helpless... Take me home.
Looking through my reference files for both dmods and my editor, I come up with the following list:

* WC: for the Ultimate Dink File FAQ, I wouldn't be getting anywhere with my editor without it.

* Ted Shutes: for the improved dinkc reference

* Joshriot: for Skeleton S. A most useful file

I can go on, but I'm wasting programming time.
