Eleven years. Wow. How much has the Dink Engine changed during that time? I mean, we need to evolve the Smallwood (hell, I remember when BfW was crap (.4 version or something) and now it's at 1.8.2. With a bunch of awesome added to it).
We should try expanding the Dink Engine as well as making more d-mods. Part of what holds me back is that my creativity is cut down by the screen-by-screen system. I we had an optional engine modification to allow sidescrolling in a larger area then I would start looking up all that stuff that DinkC does.

I don't mind the screen-by-screen thing at all, but I'm more irked with the limit for global variables. Sure we can always try to use them sparingly - as we've done for the past 11 years! - but it's one of the issues which makes planning large-scale D-Mods such a huge bother in the end.
I don't think changing the limit is going to be possible with the current engine, ever, but I had to mention it anyway

Wait, wait, wait!! There's a certain limit of how many globals you can use in one D-Mod!?
It's limited to about 200 I've heard.

You know, whether it's Dink, or Star Wars, you still need to make every frame.
It's NOT called sidescrolling, it's called parallax scrolling, I believe. The scrolling currently implemented in Dink is the flip-screen method. Wikipaedia makes this statement: "A few games scroll normally within a small area but scroll rapidly to flip from area to area". Actually, this mixed-method seems a lot like what was used in Baldurs Gate 1.
