Fail. So let's change this into something really usable.
My family is psychic, and by extension so am I. When I was really little, I could sense manifestations of energy in the air. I saw one apparition in my life. A Demon. This one was pure shadow, in the form of a child, with glowing red eyes. It stood outside of my living room window, beckoning. I don't know what made me flee from it, but ever since then I wasn't able to sense anything until recently. It is interesting regaining an ability locked away due to the great fear that resulted from this encounter. So far, I can sense energies in the air that tell me an entity is nearby.

Besides, I was thinking of after I end the Amulet series' that I've been writing, I could make a new series based off of that experience.

I once saw a cow - it was black and white and had a huge set of plain brown horns on its head . It said MOOoooo and really freaked me out. 
I once saw a blogger that could only speak in binary, that was downright scary.

If they survive that terrible notion, they generally don't return - ever.
On a more serious note, you can counter the supernatural beings by adopting a mindset. You will have to believe it whole-heartedly, though. I think they call it psychosomatic medicine... it has some relations to the placebo effect. However, you should be aware that "self-exorcisms" can result in inability to be the next Dante Alghieri, William Blake etc.
You can also use this method to un-install "The Game"
