i have an idea lets all co-operrate and make a d-mod

we all submit parts of the story, people, what the say, etc.
then we elect some-one to make the d-mod

where it says AUTHOR we can type _____(the one who makes the d-mod) & dinkers

please of all the threads
don't type lame things this is a serious thread

In memory of Skull.
this is gonna end up like Dink Story, only intended to be a D-mod. So who wants to make the sword-polishing animation?

Hmm..
I don't think it's a good idea... If you want to make a dmod you should do it alone, or offer to put the dmod together and just ask for ideas.

A community d-mod has been a suggested idea since the dawn of d-modding and none have been completed, most not even started. Honestly, I don't see it ever working out

ok the only reason comunity d-mods are never copmlet is because

(1)no one tackes them seriosly
(2)people like you have negetive atitudes

You just want someone else to make a dmod based on your ideas because you can't do it yourself? Sure looks that way.

No, the reason is that only nubs like yourself suggest making them.

No, actually people have started some community projects quite seriously. Here is an example of such a DMOD. Unfortunately I've never seen any community project that even got close to being finished. There have been instances of two people working together and finishing something, but these are usually people who know each other already.

And this project won't work out either. That's not me being negative, that's an honest prediction based on previous attempts. This project lacks even the most basic necessities, such as an experienced leader. I've made a list of problems related to this before, so I won't cover this too deeply now.

There are just too many elementary problems: If everyone submits ideas how are you going to make sure the plot stays coherent? Who are you going to approach to make the DMOD? Most developers would rather develop their own projects rather than those of someone else...

EDIT: Perhaps if you replace "then we elect some-one to make the d-mod " with "Then I'll make the d-mod" it could work out... These things don't work without a leader who's prepared to do some of the dirty work...

So the story is made up by a bunch of people and one person will make the DMOD? Could very well work. You'd probably be better off learning how to make a DMOD than waiting around for someone else to do that part though. It's just that everyone with the ability to make a DMOD seems to be busy with other projects or busy with life in general. Plus, we could always use more DMODers.

As for coming up with a story (if community members are willing to participate) here's how it could work to keep out all the rubbish:

1) Make a new thread.
-Call it "Cooperative Story DMOD" or whatever you want.
-For the first post, state the goal of the project and the rules for participating.
-Use proper grammar, caps, and punctuation and avoid saying things like 'this thread is serious' or anything to that effect because that brings out the ass in some people.

2) Reply to that post with a blank placeholder post right away.
-Edit the placeholder post to contain your parts of the story marking places that need filler story.

3) When someone posts an acceptable addition to the story add it to the story post.
-If someone posts something ridiculous in response, just ignore them (fighting will only clutter your thread and make it look unprofessional) and feel free to make fun of them in your DMOD.

Good luck with this. It would be nice to see how it turns out.

It's like that.
ok people lets do this
(1)i make the base idea for the story
(2)we fill in the gaps with other small ideas
(3)i then take given ideas and trim them so they may fall in place to make final story
(4)using the story made we give it a name
(5)we add in the small details such as starting attributes, health, etc
(6)we aprove that everything is in place
(7)i make the d-mod

ooh well this is kind of lame but i am semi new to making d-mods so for so things i might have to ask how to do but i think i know the basics

well
no just lock this thread
i have decided that it would be best if i did not try to make a d-mod
best leave it to the experts and true artists
(the smile does not mean i an being sarcastic it just means i have accepted the truth and am ok with it)
if you guys would do me a favour i have lots of ideas for d-mods
but i dont know how to make d-mods and i honestly give up i just dont understand this stuf it is to hard
so i am saying if you are ever at a lack of ideas or have to much free time i can pich in for ideas
now about this thread i have lost intrest in it but some people might not want it to be clossed so some one can tak my place

well thats the last pice of my soul lost forever

Oh, NOW YOU'VE DONE IT!
Wow, it's as if you people don't even know how real videogames are made. Most of them are made in little groups, that then form larger groups.

This would be an excellent idea if it had an organized development team. Give Mr Hellfire a break.

I think you should make a d-mod Hellfire, but start small and do it by yourself. This will teach you the basics to tackle a larger project in the future It's how we all started out

Definitely don't give up. There are plenty of good tutorials nowadays. Try RobJs video tutorials to get started. It will teach you how to use the editor. He should be starting on the scripting parts soon also.

In the mean time, you can try metatarasal's An intro to DMOD making to learn scripting. There's also The Rudiments of Scripting and Dink Goes Boating that should help as well.

Additional tutorials can be found here. And don't be shy to ask questions if you need help. You'll find that most people will be very helpful provided you've shown some effort to find the answer on your own part.

But again, don't give up. Maybe this project is too complicated for you now, but it's interesting enough you can always try it later on when you're more knowledgeable.

"Qualify "real.""
"Having no imaginary component."

Umm... a game that doesn't involve multi-dimensional maths or square roots of negative numbers? Wait, we talking cartesian plane and complex numbers or just things that don't exist...
