Run.exe
This file is actually pretty handy. It lets you run a DMOD just by clicking the icon once it is placed (ie unzipped, cut/pasted) in the DMOD directory. And it does detect bad installs in a general way. I tested it using the three of what I think are the most common faulty install scenarios – a) folder within a folder with the run.exe in the outer folder, run.exe told me there has been a bad install, b) folder within a folder with the run.exe in the inner folder – program told me it couldn’t find a title screen and didn’t launch the DMOD and c) all files extracted without placement inside correct STORY, SOUND, GRAPHICS, TILES, folders – here the program told me that the correct script files weren’t found, but still tried to launch the DMOD and gave me the dreaded black screen with no buttons etc.
So while not completely foolproof I think this file has very good potential, but it’s never been used or incorporated in any DMOD I’ve played to date. Not enough publicity I guess.
If this file was used more it may well stop the ever recurring newbie question of “I can’t get my DMOD to work is there a file I can click on somewhere?” And of course if it was used more, then any more potential errors may well be discovered.

Purpose: This file lets you run any D-mod.
Installation and use: Install the file to the main directory of the D-mod you want to play. Run the run.exe programme and the D-mod will be started.
Good: It is easy to install and works fine.
Not so good: There are no errors what so ever, which is real good. But if you use a front end you can play any D-mod without having to copy this programme to the directory of the D-mod you want to play, and also edit a D-mod. And that without having to browse through the explorer. I question whether this programme is useful.
Overall: A file that is easy to use but superfluous.
Fit for: If you do not want to use any other programme to play a D-mod, this will do the job.

This may be useful, but unfortunately it just works if Windows is located in C:Windows. It is possible to make a new version using %windir% (this one would allways work), but i prefer creating shortcuts to Dink.exe, and putting "-game " and the D-Mods folder name after the address. 5.0
