The Official Dink Network Happy New Year Post
Posted by Tal on Saturday January 1st, at 02:39 PM
For this new year, you shall be happy.

New Dev File: Pilgrim's Quest Source
Posted by redink1 on Monday January 3rd, at 10:36 PM
Mr. Simon Klaebe has released the Source to Pilgrim's Quest in an HTML Help File format. It also includes annotations and other information to help you make some sense of its contents, and will probably prove to confuse you. But, if looking at snippets of DinkC code is like looking at scantily clad members of the gender you prefer, by all means absorb its contents like the sponge you are.

Updated D-Mod: Search for Mother v1.10
Posted by redink1 on Monday January 3rd, at 10:39 PM
Lunacre has updated his D-Mod, Search for Mother, to v1.10. It includes quite a few improvements to the first version.

I watched Tal play through both the first version and this updated version, and I audibly noted the improvements. While the first version didn't really have any plot or end of any discernable sort, this new version had an end and a few more screens. Plus, the mapping was quite good for a first D-Mod. So check it out, ye land lubbers.

Updated Dev File: BlendTut v1.1
Posted by redink1 on Thursday January 13th, at 11:51 PM
Mr. Ric has updated his BlendTut to v1.1, basically making it more useful to newbies. There is also a screenshot available, so you can see how such a tutorial actually works. I knew my mind was reeling at how a tutorial could be included in a Blender file... but then my mind reeled in SabreTrout, and my nostrils still cry when they try to smell.

New D-Mod: The Ultimate Challange
Posted by redink1 on Thursday January 13th, at 11:56 PM
Dinkholland and Missdink have joined their evil powers to release The Ultimate Challenge, which, surprisingly, doesn't deal with muscled men trying to grapple around and punch and throw chairs in front of an audience. Well, that's what my first thought was when I saw the title.

Anyway, according to the description, Dink has to rescue an old beggar's daughter, and he has to fight a lot to find her. Of course, it isn't explained why the old beggar didn't keep his daughter on a chain like normal people... I mean, come on, beggar dude.

The Lost Two: The Clone War
Posted by redink1 on Friday January 14th, at 09:01 PM
And so, the gods of words decreed that there shall be a new article to grace the land of The Dink Network, and all were repulsed in its horror. Instead of focusing on random things, funny questions, abandoned discussions, it would instead focus on the utter horror gnawing at the underbelly of The Dink Network: D-Mods that were started, but never saw the light of day.

Or at least, that was the plan, many a month ago when I started this article. And then... I sort of stopped. And now, I return with a D-Mod that I released a demo for. And yet this demo disappeared shortly thereafter, never to be played again. If you never heard about it before, I am thankful.

To have your eyes, ears, and nose hair experience the torture, press on and read the article. I personally wouldn't recommend it, but hey, maybe your eyes have been pretty crabby lately and you're ready to dish our some revenge?

Dinkholland and Missdink have updated The Ultimate Challenge. They've made the story more logical and the gameplay easier.

Updated D-Mod: Search for Mother v1.20 (UPDATED)
Posted by redink1 on Monday January 17th, at 04:22 PM
Resident pillbug eater Lunacre has updated his D-Mod entitled Search for Mother. Unfortunately, the lad with a prickly taste did not attach any list of changes he made, so I could say things like "he fixed some bugs, added some things to do, created gratuitous amounts of bananas, and comes up with a convincing argument for world peace" but, alas, I cannot.

Note: Lunacre posted the changes he made in the comments section. He's also released a new version, because the previous one failed to work. Simply download it again and re-install.

Complaint Chaos 3: Return of Complaints
Posted by redink1 on Saturday January 22nd, at 02:40 PM
Complaint Chaos is an article that addresses, mocks, or rips suggestions from the suggestion box. Most of the suggestions are completely worthless, amusing, or just plain odd.

This edition has 13 from the past few months since the server outage.

Recondite Twenty-Six: Pernicious
Posted by redink1 on Saturday January 29th, at 10:16 PM
Recondite is an article that I started many a life ago, for the sole reason to put random thoughts into it. It has evolved into a pseudo-blog / status update for many things about The Dink Network that simply don't fit into the forums or as stand-alone news posts.

It has been about 10 months since the last edition, and I think I can mostly blame that on the fact that I have a job. Free time just isn't as abundant as it once was, and weekends have been dedicated to completely entertaining endeavours (like playing Resident Evil 4 or watching all three Lord of the Rings films in one day).

So read on, fellow Dinkers, and see what this edition entails. Poll Comments? Massive Fruit Indulgences? Elephants?

New Cheat: UItima Cheat
Posted by redink1 on Saturday January 29th, at 10:42 PM
A canine known as rabidwolf9 has released a new cheat for your evil habits. It is called Ultima Cheat because ... uh ... I really have no idea. I'd usually insert something ridiculous here, but right now my eyes feel like they're about to fall out of my skull.

With one keypress, you can boost all of your stats, unlock the screen, fill your life, and more. And by hitting another key, you can kill all enemies on the screen. Rock'n.

New File: Dink.ini Rewrite
Posted by redink1 on Saturday January 29th, at 10:45 PM
Ye ol' dragon lover DraconicDink has unleashed the Dink.ini Rewrite. It allows D-Mod authors to have dink.ini that is nice-and-organized. You should be able to easily plug it into any existing projects. If you've added graphics, though, you'll need to add them to this dink.ini too.
