New D-mod : Dink's Father 2
Posted by Kyle on Tuesday April 1st, at 06:51 AM
Lancemads has released the second part of the Dink's Father Trilogy, rejoice! And no, it's not a joke, go find out for yourselves right here. I couldn't find any information about whether it's a romp, quest or epic (the latter being unlikely due to it's small size). I chose Romp, but if I'm wrong, please correct me in the comments and I'll change it as soon as possible.

A Confession
Posted by Dukie on Tuesday April 1st, at 09:57 AM
For those who pay attention, me, Kyle, and nitronic are from Belgium. And that's sort of true, except Kyle and nitronic are characters I created. They are not real people. They only exist on this web site and in my mind.

It all started out as a joke two years ago. Red Ink said he wanted to have someone to update the Timeline, and I created a new e-mail address to pretend to be 'Kyle', and requested to be on the staff. I didn't actually think Red Ink would pick 'Kyle', but once he did, I decided to continue playing as him.

Recently, I decided to create the dumbest person I could imagine: nitronic. I wanted to see how the rest of the staff would put up with such an arsehole, and most took it pretty well. WC didn't, and it was pretty fun yelling at him, knowing that I would be safe.

But recently, It's just stopped being fun. I've not messed with 'Kyle' or 'nitronic' over the past few weeks, and today I thought I might post a file as 'Kyle', but even then it wasn't very fun. So Red Ink, I want you to delete the Kyle and nitronic accounts, and everything posted by them.

Sorry for all the commotion.

New D-Mod Demo: Dinkablo II: Shadow and Flame
Posted by redink1 on Wednesday April 2nd, at 10:28 AM
After a D-Modless month, Firelake decided to quench everyone's thirst be releasing a demo to his D-Mod Dinkablo II: Shadow and Flame, which seems to be a sequel to the very unfinished Dinkablo. So what is this one about? Well, Dink and Diablo fall in love, and have a child called Dinkablo... err... wait a minute. Here it is: "Three Wizards call Dink to save the world (again), to kill Diablo. However, something goes wrong and Dink is teleported into mysterious little island."

New D-Mod: Goblinoma Z
Posted by redink1 on Wednesday April 2nd, at 10:33 AM
The thirst quenching continues, as O. Ellis has released (his/her)? first D-Mod entitled Goblinoma Z, which chronicles Dink's lengthy battle with the Sexually Transmitted Disease of the same name... err... dang, I messed up again. Here's the real description: "Dink is visiting a new island when he is mysteriously attacked. Dink is on a mission to find this monster.".

Contest Update: Evil Hero D-Mod
Posted by redink1 on Wednesday April 2nd, at 10:41 AM
A quick update about the Evil Hero D-Mod Contest:

Right now it looks like we're going to be giving away a real prize for the winner of the contest, and probably not something from The Dink Network Store. The current idea for the real prize will be any RPG (Morrowind, Pokemon, Neverwinter Nights, Final Fantasy, etc) of the winner's choosing, up to a $40-50 limit (to be decided).

And remember, you have just under two months left. That should be plenty of time, even if you haven't started yet.

For the rest of the details about the Evil Hero D-Mod Contest, check out the original announcement.

My Confession
Posted by redink1 on Wednesday April 2nd, at 06:23 PM
I (redink1) wrote up Dukie's 'A Confession' yesterday as an April Fool's Day prank. I wanted to fool almost everyone, which succeeded to various degrees (some people fell for Dukie-was-Kyle, and I think everyone thought that Dukie actually wrote it). I even wanted to fool Dukie, to try to make him question his sanity a bit, and to see how he would react to me saying he wasn't on the staff any longer. But, he hasn't been online for the past couple days... so the joke's off.

Posted by Kyle on Thursday April 3rd, at 07:41 AM
Lancemads has updated his recently released d-mod : Dink's Father 2. This patch adds a few more monsters to the game. The patch has been applied to the full d-mod so there's no need to patch it yourself.

Recondite Nineteen: Isochronism
Posted by redink1 on Monday April 7th, at 10:53 PM
Recondite is my article, and is supposed to be weekly (though it is never released on a schedule) and is usually a whole lot of crazy rants, stories, poll comments, and links.

This week there are some poll comments, Miasma plans, solutions for Recondite withdrawal, and of course some links.

View the comments to read it.

Awards: March 2003 DOTM Voting
Posted by WC on Tuesday April 8th, at 11:55 PM
Well, the time is here, and instead of being early like last time, it's a day late. Gotta love us. Anyways, you know the drill, Click here to vote, you may only vote for one of the following files (Debug Bitmap, Experience Machine, Force Field Graphics, Glenn's First D-Mod, and Green Axe Knight), you may vote more than once, but only your last vote counts (You must have a account to vote). Voting will end on the 15th, and we might even post news about it this time!

Site News: New File Mirror
Posted by redink1 on Saturday April 12th, at 07:50 PM
I've decided to use some of the Community Funds to test out the viability of a new file mirror, which is quite fast and doesn't require registration. Currently, As Good As Eternity, Dry, Friends Beyond 3, Pilgrim's Quest, Prophecy of the Ancients, and Stone of Balance are mirrored. To download one of these D-Mods off of the new mirror, go to the file's page and click on the 'dink.fileburst.com' link.

Unfortunately, there is that one rather large caveat: we have to pay for it. For more information, view the comments.

Awards: March Voting Has Ended
Posted by Tal on Tuesday April 15th, at 03:19 PM
Listen up, jive turkeys, because the March 2003 DOTM voting is over! Not surprisingly, the results are here as well!

Noone won absolutely nothing with the fabulous file... 'N/A', garnering 5 votes. Inside sources tell me that this actually means 'None' was the favored choice for the month. Shame on you people.. how could you deprive someone of a fabulous award?

Following 'None' in second place was Force Field Graphics, followed by Green Axe Knight, both released by SimonK. I normally wouldn't mention this, but it occured to me (Master of the Obvious) that Simon would have probably won the DOTM if he had submitted only one file. But you have to give the guy a pat on the back (in 6-9 months when he returns, anyway) for not depriving our file-hungry community.

Now then, submit stuff for the next DOTM or be mercilessly slaughtered on my welcome mat.

New Dev File: Guided Projectile
Posted by redink1 on Saturday April 19th, at 12:26 PM
theprophet has released a new development file by the name of Guided Projectile. It creates a projectile (arrow, axe, etc.) that follows Dink around and hurts him. Spiffy.

Also, theprophet changed the name of his site to "Alien Dmod Productions" and removed all of the content from it. A straw poll revealed 87% of Dinkers preferred the no-content version as opposed to the old version with content.
