You being unsure about how to change the font colour doesn't really convince me about your html skills. 
To do it properly you should add quotes around the hex code... The colour would be some darkish shade of grey.
IMO, knowing a certain language is when you can write that language without constantly having to refer to a tutorial or a list of available commands- Sure, HTML is super easy to do and learn like that but I wouldn't dare say I knew it if I couldn't make a website independently.
