Actually, I agree with those people. I find the "www" subdomain totally pointless. It would be like doing "myaddress@mail.example.com" when you mail someone. It's just redundant. You know that when you go http, you visit a www page, just like you know that when you mail someone at address@example.com, you're mailing someone at example.com... you don't need an explicit "mail.example.com", nor do you need an explicit www.example.com.
