I have a shitload of files that I would be absolutely ducking devastated to lose. I installed a SSD a while ago to store my massive-ass labyrinth of folders and files that I once mentioned here to make sure I won't lose it.

Then I looked up 'SSD Temprature' as I often monitor my HDD's temperature to make sure it hasn't gone above 45c or below 25c. Lots of articles out there about how SSDs are terrible at retaining data. It's ducking hot here and articles say that if it's hotter and your SSD is stored without power for a few weeks, it'll wipe itself.

Obviously, I'm taking everything off the SSD right now and putting it back where it used to be. Granted, the only times it'll be off is if I restart the PC for a bit, but what if the power goes off? Then it'll be hot as hell with no way to cool off until PG&E gets off its lazy corporate shitty asses and fixes their shit. Plus, while moving the folder onto the SSD the first time, I noticed that the amount of stuff I moved wasn't the same as before. Moving it off, it seemed to be even lower. I don't know if there's so much shit that it can't count the same each time or if I'm just a paranoid country music sensation or both.

So, what's your method for storing data for eternity? Don't say cloud, because that is a horrible idea - the service could go bust, and they're probably going to send that all off to governments anyways. Duck that. Not happening.

EDIT: My most dink related thread yet, but whatever. I ain't signing up for another forum to use once and not get an answer for a hundred hours. Plus, some of you have had failed drives, so you might have learned something about how to avoid losing shit.

EDITEDIT: I have an old harddrive sitting around from when I was a tiny little faggot. I was still able to run it and access it a year or two ago, but either it broke while I was using it, or the cables were loose. It's also not exactly stored well. It just sits around, really.
